Disturbed bassist John Moyer shared a message via social media announcing he’s officially one year sober.
“Today I am one year with no drinking, no alcohol. It’s a big deal for me.” He explained that alcohol had been part of his life since his teens and that things came to a breaking point during the Sickness 25th Anniversary Tour: “My behavior was becoming erratic and I wasn’t the person I wanted to be… my bandmates were worried about me.”
Moyer said his first sober show was in Seattle and that the past year has been about rebuilding: “I didn’t realize how much I was holding myself back… If I can beat it, I truly believe anyone can beat it.”
He closed with a message for anyone struggling: “There is life on the other side. There is a better world, and I’m proof of it.”

I think we should never allow for the wretched & evil to displace our own good nature.
No matter how sad the state of the world may seem at times.
Always remain hopeful that there will be positive change.
And above all else, persevere.
