"As the war in Iran disrupts shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and sends fertilizer prices soaring by more than 50 percent, farmers around the world are feeling the squeeze. But not all of them. From Zimbabwe to India, Brazil to Poland, farmers who transitioned to compost, green manures, and biofertilizers years ago say their soils, yields, and wallets have been largely cushioned from the shock. In a new series of interviews commissioned by the Global Alliance for the Future of Food, journalist Jack Thompson speaks with the farmers proving that reducing dependence on fossil fuel-based inputs makes economic sense, builds resilience, and strengthens food sovereignty. Their message is clear: the crisis has exposed the fragility of industrial agriculture, and with the right support, a different path is possible."

CFAO Mobility Kenya has some of the best Market Research Analysts we have in the country.
They recognized a high potential market opportunity to disrupt and scale within the informal Matatu sector and the commercial logistics industry (Trucking).
Part 1: The Matatu Card. 🚐
In 2021 Toyota by CFAO Mobility Kenya made an announcement that surprised many and had a huge impact on the Matatu Industry. This announcement had some car dealers in the gray market ( dealers in foreign used vehicles) saying that the move would not see the light of day.
Toyota by CFAO Mobility Kenya dropped the price of the Toyota Hiace H200 Commuter van to Ksh.4.51 Million. A price tag equivalent to that of an 8 year old foreign used (Mtumba) H200 Commuter van.
How did they do this?
Before 2021, fully built imported Hiace vans (FBUs) were slapped with steep import duties that inflated showroom prices.
In June of 2021, CFAO Mobility officially
commissioned their first dedicated local assembly
line for the Hiace H200 at the Associated Vehicle
Assemblers (AVA) plant in Mombasa. The reasoning behind this is move was to take advantage of
government granting zero-rated import duties and
excise tax exemptions on Completely Knocked
Down (CKD) kits.
CFAO immediately passed these
huge tax savings onto buyers, lowering brand-new
unit costs equivalent to the price of 8-year-old second-hand (mtumba) imports.
By last year, (2025), annual sales of the Hiace
climbed drastically to 1,176 units, a 65.1% increase
from 712 units in 2024
To keep up with this massive demand from mainly matatus, school transport, and others, CFAO Mobility launched an additional KES 2.3 billion production line for the Hiace at the Kenya
Vehicle Manufacturers (KVM) plant in Thika in
June 2026.
Today over 90% of Toyota Hiace Commuter Vans bought for Matatu use are brand new (Zero mileage).
Stay tuned for Part 2: The Truck Card...

I didn’t know this until recently.
Aflatoxins in maize have no smell, no colour, and no taste. You can cook ugali and still not know they’re in it.
They form during storage when it’s hot and humid. This is why some families are now more careful about the flour they buy.

Life is in phases. And one wrong compromise in a hard season can prolong your wilderness.
Stay the course.
It won’t be easy, but stay the course. (Galatians 6:9)
In times of trouble, Jesus doesn't stand on the shore and shout, “Row a little harder!
Think positive! You got this!” He is not a life coach, personal trainer, or cheerleader on the sidelines of life. He is the Lord of the storms. He rules the wind and waves. He comes to us in our fear and hopelessness to say, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”
In 2 Cor. 13:5 the Apostle Paul says we are to test ourselves to see if we are in the faith. The Apostle Paul expected the Corinthians to obey His apostolic instructions. How do you know if you really know the Lord in a saving way? The primary indicator a person is saved by grace is a transformed life of obedience to the Lord. If we love Jesus we will obey Him. We are not saved by works, but unto works. The Apostle John addresses how we can know we are saved in 1 John.
5 reasons Christ had to die:
1. Sin demands a penalty
(Rom. 6:23)
2. We could not save ourselves
(Isa. 64:6)
3. The law required a perfect sacrifice
(Heb. 10:4)
4. God is both just and the justifier
(Rom. 3:26)
5. Love required it.
(John 3:16; Rom. 8:32)
This is evergreen! When a young boy asks John MacArthur why didn’t Jesus just *Pow* in the garden when Eve ate the apple, He can stop it like that?
Bible Questions and Answers, Part 70 — John MacArthur
“I’m Joey Cusenza, and my question is, why didn’t Jesus stop Eve at the garden of Eden when she ate the fruit? *Like, I mean, pow,* He can just stop it like that. Why didn’t He?”
JOHN: That is the most profound question of all questions: Why didn’t God stop Eve from eating the fruit? This theologians call the problem of theodicy: Why is there evil in the world? If God is absolutely holy, why is there evil in the world? That’s essentially that question: Why didn’t He stop it before it started?
First of all, the broad answer is this: because God allowed her to eat that fruit, God allowed sin to come into the world, so that He could be glorified. Now God is a God of love, and He could express that love even in the perfection of the Trinity. And He expressed that love to Adam and Eve when He walked and talked with them before they sinned and before she ate. So God could express His love.
But if there had never been a sin, there would never be forgiveness, there would never be mercy, there would never be grace, there would never be compassion, there would never be healing, there would never be restoration. And so, forever and ever, the angels would never be able to worship God for all those aspects of His nature. So God allows evil so that He can display grace and mercy and compassion because those also are attributes of God that can only be put on display through His response to sin.
There’s another reason, and that is that God is holy and just and righteous. He would never be able to display ultimately what that means unless there were sinners to judge. So whether it is judgment on sin or whether it is salvation from sin, the fact that sin exists allows God to display eternally the glory of the full scope of His attributes. Okay? Great question. Thank you, bud.
