This is bigger than baseball.
A new Rays ballpark can be the anchor for a true live-work-play-learn district that creates jobs, rebuilds a college campus, attracts private investment, supports local businesses, strengthens the urban core, and expands the tax base without raising tax rates.
The Tampa Sports Authority has every right to an opinion, but let’s not confuse opinion with authority.
TSA does not approve the Rays deal. TSA does not vote on the @RaysForeverHome . TSA does not negotiate the Rays deal.
Their job is managing Raymond James Stadium. The future of the Rays project will be decided by elected leaders responsible for the entire region’s economy, workforce, and long-term growth.
Florida municipalities better start getting their ducks in a row ASAP
If voters approve the property tax amendment in November they’re actually going to have to be good stewards of our tax dollars
Imagine that!
A truly unique ribbon cutting! Working together, Cemex, FDOT & Port Tampa Bay built an aggregate terminal that can quickly move material from ship to storage. Material that builds schools, homes & roads throughout our region and the state - and that's something big to celebrate.
Today, in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay, I participated in a roundtable discussion with Acting U.S. Labor Secretary Keith E. Sonderling. The roundtable also included BayCare leadership and other regional partners focused on workforce development.
The discussion centered on creating stronger pathways into apprenticeship programs and addressing the skilled labor shortage by connecting individuals to fast-track opportunities for high-paying careers in the construction and skilled trades industries.

HUGE WIN for Florida seniors and healthcare providers!
For over two years, I have led the effort to fix Florida’s unfairly low portable x-ray Medicare reimbursement rate, including leading a Florida delegation letter with 11 Members of Congress.
After years of fighting to get this issue addressed, Florida’s rate is now increasing by 72%.
This will help protect access to bedside imaging services for seniors, nursing home residents, and rural communities across Florida.
My feature on @kenbabby paying homage to his Baltimore roots, Algebra homework in the warehouse before baseball and now sharing Camden with his son, Josh. “Everybody has a place where they fell in love with the game,” Babby told me. “This place… this is what started a lifetime love affair with baseball for me.” Full story 👇

For all the doomsday pundits on the @RaysForeverHome definitely don’t listen to our interview with Hillsborough county chair, Ken Hagen today!
Way too much positivity and we debunk all the nonsense! Enjoy
With Hillsborough County & the City of Tampa agreeing to the Rays' new stadium MOU last week, @CruzerDesigns put together a graphics package breaking down funding for the proposed $2.3 billion project
@raylehmann Tampa’s tourism economy is many times larger than it was in 1998. Sports, venues, downtown investment, hotels, restaurants, and events helped turn Tampa Bay into a true destination.
Some people haven't been around long enough to understand our history. Tampa Bay spent decades fighting to land Major League Baseball.
Before the Rays, this region was constantly overlooked. Expansion talks. Relocation rumors. Broken promises.
Yet local leaders and baseball fans kept pushing because they believed Tampa Bay belonged on the major league stage.
In 1998, that finally became reality.
Now, after nearly 30 years, the @RaysBaseball have helped transform this region into one of the fastest-growing economies in America.
The next step is obvious:
A world-class ballpark and a live, work, learn district that keeps Tampa Bay moving forward. Time for us to #RaysUp!
