Just reading through the Football Governance Bill.
Section 8(d) gives statutory recognition to the specificity of football, lest there be any further dispute about it or sport generally.

I would be very grateful for any support.
6 year old son was asked to dress up as his favourite musician. Most others went for Freddie Mercury or ABBA. He chose to go as @FatboySlim#ProudParent
@RugbyBarrister I spent my formative years following the Déise around Munster (we rarely got beyond that) & still get over for a few games. Not as often as I’d like since I had kids but I have started taking them home for the county match. Waterford hurling & Munster rugby are my sporting loves.
UK friends! This year’s All-Ireland Hurling Final will be live on BBC iPlayer on Sunday afternoon 3.30pm. It’ll be Limerick v Kilkenny, a repeat of last year’s final and it might be a classic. You will certainly see why I keep going on about Hurling here…
@lovefutebol That’s right and is in the right ballpark. Even without mitigation he’d have been able to play vs Scotland (arguably the most significant game). Some people are suggesting he should be banned for the tournament, which would be wildly disproportionate.
Suggestions that the #Sexton ban is outrageous ignore the central importance of proportionality when sanctioning disciplinary offences.
The Panel had to have regard to the fact that the RWC is soon. Anything more would have gone beyond that necessary to protect the game.
