Hey, look!
The high school dropout, who was found getting groped at a play with kids in the audience, agrees that the man who allegedly slept with a minor at a drug-filled party, should be AG under the President who sexually assaulted a woman.
Good news: we’re up against morons
When sizing up your enemy before battle, you look for weaknesses. You hope for ineptitude. It’s a bonus if it turns out your enemy is too naive about the nature of the battle to even know how to fight it correctly. In that regard we just got some good news.
You’d think that, having spent a decade on the national political stage, Donald Trump would have some basic understanding of how politics works by now. But he most decidedly does not. He’s only back in power because the media has once again dishonestly put him there while chasing its own goals. It doesn’t mean Trump has any political competence whatsoever. For that matter his worsening dementia seems to have robbed him of what little he used to understand. And the people who are left around Trump at this point don’t appear to have any understanding of how politics works either.
Case in point: Trump’s cabinet picks. He started off by nominating a handful of Republicans who are well liked within their party, such as Marco Rubio and Kristi Noem. This worried me. The smart move for Trump would be to make picks that ingratiate him to the Republican Senate and Republican House, so that those two entities will be more willing to go along with his corrupt antics later.
But then Trump blew it all yesterday when he nominated Matt Gaetz for Attorney General and Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence. These are two high profile laugh out loud inappropriate picks that won’t just play poorly with the public, they’ll play poorly with the Senators who have to confirm them. Especially Gaetz, because no one wants to be associated with his particular alleged crimes.
Obviously, Trump and his babysitters are hoping to make these picks happen as recess appointments. But for that to happen, the Senate has to be willing to go along with it. The way to make that happen would be to pick low profile no-names who could easily be slipped through without creating any hassles or controversy for the Republican Senate. Instead Trump just handed the Republican Senate the most high profile un-confirmable name ever to be nominated for such a position. Alleged underage sex trafficker Matt Gaetz as Attorney General? Come on.
So now Trump and his babysitters have just made a huge mess of their own secret evil genius plan. They were going to confirm the cabinet during recess and hope no one noticed. But then they went and nominated someone who can’t possibly get confirmed during recess without everyone noticing.
The “best” case scenario for Trump is that Gaetz somehow manages to get confirmed, and then Gaetz becomes a scandal-a-day disaster for Trump that drags down his approval rating into the mud. The other scenario for Trump is that the Senate refuses to rubber stamp Gaetz, and Trump suffers the immediate body blow of a failed Attorney General nominee right out of the gate, which also significantly weakens him.
This is the kind of uniquely naive and stupid mistake that only Donald Trump could make. He could have picked any low profile lackey for Attorney General he wanted, gotten that person easily confirmed, and then that lackey could have quietly gotten away with all kinds of corrupt things. Instead Trump and his babysitters did the dumbest thing possible.
This demonstrates that Trump and his babysitters are extremely naive about how politics works. They’re under the impression that the way you win in politics is to make the most high profile aggressive move possible, without regard for blowback or what kind of ammunition you might be handing the other side. The people helping Trump make these picks are as naive as the self appointed Twitter pundits who go viral with kindergarten-level simplistic magic wand ideas and then wonder why no serious people are taking them up on the idea.
Last time around Trump at least had the benefit of having some people around him who understood how politics worked. He didn’t listen to them often enough, but at least he was hearing competent political strategy in one ear. This time around he’s surrounded by people who naively think Twitter is real life and therefore have no idea how to make anything happen. So if you’ve been looking for a bit of good news, here it is: we’re up against morons. Which means we have a chance of winning a lot of these battles.
Palmer Report will never stop fighting. Help us fight back against Trump: https://t.co/or8Yuz3eCT
In the three years since I signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, my Administration has launched over 66,000 projects across the country.
And today, we're investing an additional $1.5 billion in the Northeast Corridor, the most heavily trafficked rail corridor in our nation.
@cw_janene@PalmerReport He nominated Gaetz as AG. Now, at least 3 republican senators say they won’t vote in favor. Gaetz is widely hated in Congress, partially because of the underage sex trafficking. Had he waited until the Senate went into recess, he could have put him in with no “advice and consent”
BREAKING- Senate leader John Thune said today that there are not enough votes to pass a recess, which would have allowed Trump's appointments to take their post without a hearing.
So Gaetz, and the others will have to go in front of committees and be grilled.
Your thoughts?
Matt Gaetz just resigned from the House. He’s hoping to put to bed the Ethics Committee probe while he tries to get confirmed as Attorney General. But the Ethics Committee will give the dirt to the media anyway. If we tank his AG nomination, Gaetz is out of government entirely.
The Democratic Party is in the best shape of my lifetime, in terms of leadership, messaging, fundraising, ground game and competence. The media simply fucked us by dishonestly forcing Biden out. Do not throw away what works about this party. Put the media out of business instead.
So, I understand if you must leave the rabid toxicity of this place. I, myself, have contemplated the same. However, I will never forsake the loyal support of my allies and friends here. Also, I’d consider it an honor if you decide to stay — and continue the fight with me.
Donald Trump’s election eve collapse
Donald Trump is in North Carolina speaking to small crowd and a lot of empty seats, as it becomes clear that his faux-campaign and his anti-American movement are dying out. Trump, for his part, can’t seem to make up his mind whether to bitterly accept the clear reality that he’s losing, or to accept the comforting lies that his campaign babysitters are feeding him.
For instance, Trump has spent his final rallies bitterly ranting and raving about how it’s all being stolen from him. Tonight he angrily called out his campaign manager by name, sarcastically asking if she approved of his latest feeble remark. It’s never a good sign when a candidate is already publicly sniping at the head of his campaign the night before election day.
On the other hand, Trump has also claimed tonight that Kamala Harris is only speaking to a crowd of a hundred people in Pennsylvania, that she’s pulled out of North Carolina, that her campaign is out of money, and that experts have only given her a 4% chance of winning. None of these things are even close to being true, obviously. But you can tell that Trump’s babysitters have been feeding him these comforting lies to try to keep him pacified down the stretch. That way when he loses, he’ll blame conspiracy theories instead of blaming his own people – and just maybe they won’t get stiffed.
In any case, it’s more clear than ever that Donald Trump has given up – not only on this election but also seemingly on life. He knows there’s nothing for him once he loses, except humiliation and criminal trials and prison.

On this Election Day 2024, in a letter organized by the American Bar Association’s Task Force for American Democracy, 125 current and past presidents of the nation’s state, local, and national bar associations put lawyers on notice of their professional obligations
When I first got to the polls, I'm not gonna lie I thought about going home, eating lunch, and then heading back later because the line was so long. It was wrapped around the building, and the line was wrapped around the rooms inside too.
But I'm glad that I stayed.
It took me less than an hour, door-to-door.
If you get overwhelmed when you see a line: DON'T.
They're moving fast!!!!
Numbers look good for Kamala Harris so far, as unhinged Donald Trump falsely declares "Law Enforcement coming!!!"
It's tricky to parse early voting data and match it up to election day turnout, and it's easy to get such calculations very wrong. But the two people I trust to parse this kind of data meaningfully based on their track records, Simon Rosenberg and Tom Bonier, say that things look good for the Democrats so far today. Of course we all have to take that with a grain of salt, because this is a unique election. That said, I suspect we're going to like what we see tonight.
Keep in mind that exit polls are always somewhat wrong and often very wrong, and are best ignored. Exit polls are really just filler for the media to kick around while waiting for actual results to come in.
Also keep in mind that based on the various ways in which they count the votes, some states will have major red mirages tonight, and other states will have major blue mirages. Bottom line: don't take partial vote totals seriously, at all, until someone like Steve Kornacki has run them through a filter of where those votes have come from and which way those precincts lean.
Meanwhile Donald Trump is showing his hand by posting this on social media: "A lot of talk about massive CHEATING in Philadelphia. Law Enforcement coming!!!" The City Commissioner of Philadelphia, a Republican, tweeted that Trump's claim is false. Others have confirmed that there is no law enforcement situation. Trump is obviously just trying to scare people out of voting (which never works), and he's also revealing just how panicked he is.
So let's get some popcorn, settle in for the evening, and remember that most of the stray details you're going to hear are extraneous, misleading, out of context, or nonsense. As always, I'll post new information as soon as I have it (please don't DM me today or tonight).

It took several days to count every ballot in 2020, and it’s very likely we won’t know the outcome tonight either. So please keep a few things in mind as you make your voice heard today:
– Thousands of election workers around the country are working hard today. Respect them. Thank them.
– Don’t share things before checking your sources.
– Let the process run its course. It takes time to count every ballot.
