@TheGBCoach Jack Trice Stadium at Iowa State University. This photo was taken about the time the stadium opened in 1975 and was named Cyclone Stadium. In 1983 it was named Cyclone Stadium-Jack Trice Field and, thru the efforts of ISU students, it became Jack Trice Stadium in 1997.
@roadtocfb It’s the ESPN effect. ESPN only cares about SEC, Big 10 and ND, and they’ve gotten America to follow suit. Too many fans sitting at home watching afore mentioned teams instead supporting local schools. Remember, they only care about teams they broadcast. Screw their investment.
@Super70sSports Verne looks like my late father especially with his glasses on. And ironically my Dad taught HS in Fort Worth in the late 60s and Verne was starting his career in DFW on the radio/tv. My Dad would mention that when he was on tv.
@franfraschilla@CycloneMBB Fran: You’ve mentioned Tamin Lipsey as a former Ames High quarterback. Other Little Cyclone QBs include Fred Hoiberg of course, Steven Fennelly, son of Coach Bill Fennelly, & Dan Burrow, brother of AHS ball boy Joe Burrow. Dad Jim Burrow was the coach—Steve Jones 515-231-8022
@SandyofCthulhu I was born in 1956. It wasn’t until I was middle-aged that I realized how many of my teachers, coaches, counselors, neighbors, uncles, scout leaders, etc., played large and small roles in WWII—males and females. The only way we can thank them now is to keep their stories alive.
