We were scrolling through the latest EO on AI, and almost didn’t notice the little graphic of the White House on their page has a little black bat flying around. The EO is more of an opinion piece, TBH, but the bat is the real deal and I want it to stay there at least a week or 2

@laurenancona As we start to look around, it’s ND almost everywhere we look. We’re in a high tech sector, so of course that’s what we find 😂. Special interest/hyperfixation intersects with an organizational need. We’re in the sweet spot. But of course burnout is still a thing.

@laurenancona Yesterday I realized that a close colleague who is ND and a senior civil servant has made dissecting how the USG works a special interest. Super helpful, as I’m basically doing the same thing at my org, which is under contract to his. It’s not a conspiracy if we mean well, right?

@DID_we_write Yes, they read the book over and over again and they wanted to be a seagull too and learn to fly like him, but they kind of disappeared along with the memory of the book. One came back for a few hours, but he was really confused because he thought it was still 1977 so he left.

@DrAmyPsyD Fighting him is probably a lost cause, but maybe you could tell you can cure his ignorance? In his case it might be untreatable, but at least in principle there is hope for a full recovery and to go on to live an almost normal life.

@DID_we_write Our therapist is good at spotting switches. She even notices when someone new appears (usually a frightened little), and is kind enough to introduce herself and explain where we are. It’s really strange that the system knows what’s going on and remembers, but can’t help 😢.
