Today I learned this will be my last week working at the paper I grew up reading. Telling the stories of high school athletes all across Western PA has truly been a privilege and a joy.

Thank you all for following along for the ride. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did ✌️

Bode Marlow took some pretty lopsided losses against Dylan Evans when they were younger.

The redshirt freshman turned the tables at the @Pitt_WRES Blue-Gold match, defeating the returning NCAA qualifier in SV-1.

Marlow talks about how much he’s grown since joining Pitt. #H2P

Life is so precious.

To the great Ed Dawson; a coach, mentor, father, and friend to so many — you will be missed but your legacy will live on forever.

The WPIAL lost a good one tonight 💔

[Donnie Militzer @CoachMo711]

I’m gutted right now. Ed Dawson was a great friend, great coach and just one of the best people I have meet not just in coaching but in life. He cared so much about every kid. I looked up to him and admired how he coached his boys, he was so proud of them. God bless you my friend

😔🙏

[The W.P.I.A.L. Edition @TheWPIALEdition]

Absolutely gutted to
hear of the passing of Cornell football head coach Ed Dawson @Coachdawson17.

Coach Dawson was rushed to the hospital during tonight’s game against Rochester, and the game was ultimately stopped. Prayers to the Dawson, Cornell, and Aliquippa families.

He was a great friend of @TheWPIALEdition, and will be dearly missed.

“I just need to play better.”

That’s a real quote from Hopewell QB James Armstrong after the PSU recruit accounted for 323 total yards and four TDs in a 42-14 rout vs. OLSH.

No wonder this kid is such a special player.

TOUCHDOWN: On the next play after the negated TD, James Armstrong says no problem — I’ll just lob a 26-yard TD pass to Avery Bokor instead.

Hopewell up 21-0 late in the first half. Pass the sticks, OLSH 🎮

This play got called back by a penalty, but how the heck did Brody Rock stay on his feet here and come out of the pile to get into the end zone?

[Steve Rotstein @SteveRotstein]

Promising drive for OLSH ends with an interception in the end zone by Tre Cameron. Score still 13-0 Hopewell.

[Steve Rotstein @SteveRotstein]

Nice job by Christian Bush to scoop up the fumbled snap and take off for a 30-yard gain to set OLSH up with a first-and-goal at the 3-yard line:
