Trump continues to use threats of oppression, extortion and misinformation to bully Canada. He isn’t negotiating in good faith. In fact, he isn’t negotiating anything at all. He’s threatening our sovereignty. Tariffs will just go away if we agree to be the 51st state. We will have lower taxes. We will have military protection. We will have better healthcare. These are false promises and deliberately misleading. They amount to extortion, fraud and oppression. We would be giving up something of great value for lies-fraud.

He will continue to push the lies in order to confuse and divide us as a nation. He thinks we are stupid. He thinks Greenland and Denmark are stupid. He thinks Panama is stupid. With those countries he threatens military and economic force. He has stopped short of threatening Canada with force, so far.

His statements and actions through social media are bordering on Foreign Interference. His defenders can no longer say he’s just joking. Seventy percent of Americans DO NOT support him but they are silent. Trump uses fear to silence his own people and he’s exhibiting the same methods towards us. He’s trying to make us fearful.

We need to stand up to a bully. It’s unbelievable that it’s our historical closest ally. Trump is totally untrustworthy. His personal exploits and illegal dealings are well documented. He can’t erase that. He has become the USA’s biggest liability. We can’t ignore the parallels to other dictators, especially fascist dictators from history. We can’t rely on the free trade relationship we have both benefited from.

We have far greater rights and freedoms today in Canada than they do in the USA. We don’t need to fear imprisonment or retribution for criticizing our leaders. He disparages members of the media who are critics. He uses language unbecoming of a head of state to belittle others. He says he likes Canadians but doesn’t know Jack shit about Canada or its people. He hates anyone who stands up to him. He will tantrum against us. He will impose tariffs because he has backed himself into a corner.

The whole world’s economy will suffer. We won’t be alone. We will find new markets for our products and services and reduce our reliance on the USA. We are resilient and don’t need Donald Trump telling us anything. He’s a liar, dumb as a post and everyone knows it. His own people are dumbfounded by what he spews about natural disasters, water from a big valve up north somewhere. He continues to repeat the same garbage over and over. He’s trying to do that with us. Don’t buy into his bullshit. It’s a myth that he’s a great negotiator or businessman. Great negotiators don’t use threats of harm. They seek new ways for both parties to win.

I’d like to weigh in on NBC news' recent decision to hire Ronna McDaniel.

By giving her a platform, NBC has given legitimacy to the lies she helped the former president spread.

Now we come to the why. Why would NBC News hire someone as controversial? 

Here’s the reason:

News gathering is a business, and the networks have prioritized widening their audience.

They feel the need to show their Republican bona fides by hiring conservative voices.

But that is the crux of the problem.

Which Republicans?

Trump loyalists who are election deniers and January 6 apologists?

To me, that doesn’t seem like the answer.

It’s another reason independent journalism is essential right now, essential to provide unvarnished coverage in one of the most important elections in American history and to hold the mainstream media accountable.

He was the first president in 89 years to lose the presidency, the House and the Senate in a single term.

He was the first president in 28 years to lose re-election.

He lost the most jobs of any president since Herbert Hoover.

He lost the Trump University case, the fake charity case, the NY business fraud case, the E. Jean Carroll sexual assault and defamation case, he lost a lawsuit against The NY Times, lost countless appeals, lost 61 lawsuits related to the 2020 election, lost the state of Georgia three times, lost Pennsylvania, Arizona, Texas & Wisconsin twice, and he even managed to lose 8 times at the friggin Emmy Awards.

He’s under 4 indictments, facing 91 felony charges and to date, he’s been ordered to pay more than a hundred million dollars in penalties with a potential $370 million more in the week ahead where he may also lose his right to engage in the state's real estate industry for life and be barred entirely from doing business in New York.

All of this, while he’s been saying that windmills kill whales, that magnets stop working when wet, that he ran against Obama, that E. Jean Carroll is a political rival and that Nikki Haley was in charge of security on January 6th, for which one could ostensibly make the case that in addition to everything else he’s been losing — he is also losing his damn mind.

He once said there would be so much winning people would get sick of it. When in reality, when it comes to Donald Trump in the last several years, there’s been nothing but losing.

He was right about one thing however — we are sick of it.

And by it, I mean him.

We like former presidents who aren’t losers and at the end of the day, Donald Trump is a loser, maybe the biggest loser in history. Many people say so. The best people.
