Statue of Mahatma Gandi, 🇮🇳 Indian politician & peace activist in #Manchester Cathedral grounds; it was unveiled in 2019. He came to the North West of England in 1931 and spent three days in the #Lancashire Cotton Town of #Darwen.

I was sorry to hear of the passing of 83 year old #Chorley Referee Norman Glover. I was Linesman on numerous occasions for him in Non-League #Football and then on The Football League. Norman was in charge of the game at Bradford City during the fire in May 1985. RIP.
Foundation stone at the Masonic Hall in #Rochdale laid by the 17th Earl of Derby in 1926. Back in 1914 he came up with the idea of #WW1 'Pals' Battalions (Kitchener's Army). Quite poignant for me being the Secretary of the @ChorleyPals Memorial Trust. @AccringtonPals@LancsFM

Keith Newton played for the @Rovers between 1958 and 1969, making 357 appearances and scoring 10 goals before he was transferred to #Everton FC. He also won 27 England Caps. Born in Manchester in 1941, he died of cancer in 1998. @brfcsdotcom@ReadRovers@RoversXtra@RoversPundit
