Super pumped for this interview with @ian_mendes, who I have a tremendous amount of respect for as a broadcaster. And he's an even better person, too!

It was great chatting with special guest @jackrichrdson on the @LaceEmPodcast last weekend. Here is our conversation about all-things Ottawa Senators, and that one time he played against a pre-NHL Jack Hughes.

Heading into Sweden, it's been an eventful month of action for the Ottawa Senators. And not always in the best way, either.
Very grateful that @CallumFraser18 was able to join me to simplify everything!

Almost regular season time!
Might get hate for this, but it sparks debate. If you had to assemble a Top 20 / Top 25 list of current NHL stars into a Tier List, which names make the cut and how would you rank them?
The debate starts at 30:37. One of my favourite episodes yet.

Vladimir Tarasenko has new representation: JP Barry & Pat Brisson of CAA. What this means is no deal in place with any team, but process re-sets today.
Filip Zadina makes 4.5M in real $$ over the next 2 seasons.
He had 3 goals and 10 points in 30 games last season and 28G over 190g in his career.
He is what he is
Drake Batherson on the @thehighbutton podcast talking about when Brady Tkachuk yelled in the Byward Market that the Sens we’re going to win the cup:
“He wants to win more than anyone so him saying that, he’s gonna come through with it.”

Garrioch says DET, NYI and ANA remain in the mix for DeBrincat. DET hasn't been willing to meet his contract ask, but perhaps the two sides could find middle ground.
Bruce adds that the expectation is, if OTT can unload DeBrincat, they could sign Vladimir Tarasenko. #GoSensGo
As we wait on when/if Vlad Tarasenko officially joins the #LetsGoCanes (1yr deal?), and wait for the Tony DeAngelo deal on July 8, CAR has more irons in the fire. Hearing Brett Pesce is still in play and #Smashville is back in the mix. Can confirm he owns a 15-team trade list.
I like the Hamonic cap hit. I don't mind the term when you consider the guys who are left on the open market.
But when you give someone a No-Move Clause, it's usually a top-tier player on your team.
If Hamonic struggles, they can't even waive him.
I think it’s important to hold a GM accountable.
Especially when he’s been here for 7 years and missed the playoffs the last 6 years.
I’m tired of the condescending vibes from his press conferences at times and moves like this should be explained.
As I've said all along, DeBrincat loves his teammates and likes the coach. His people aren't going to forego the open auction of unrestricted free agency an entire year early – not for the Sens, not for anyone – not unless a team really makes it worth their while to do so.
So now, as you try and trade DeBrincat to a different NHL team he likes, why would it be easier for that team to sign him (beyond one year) than it was for you?
This is interesting. Teams aren't willing to commit to DeBrincat for eight years.
I respect Alex's decision, but he overplayed his hand a little bit. Ottawa is still the best spot for his career.
Unless the DeBrincat thing gets solved in short order, that would seem to preclude the Sens from being a player for a guy like Bertuzzi (if there was any interest either way to begin with). They have 10M in cap space with (AD or ?), Pinto, 2F and a depth D still to sign
The Senators spoke to Vladimir Tarasenko today, Elliotte Friedman reports. #GoSensGo
Tarasenko, 31, scored scored 18 goals and 50 points through 69 games this season. He is one year removed from a 34 goal, 82P career season and was one of the more prolific scorers in the 2010s.
Great tandem if Korpi plays well. 100 percent.
But with Soggard likely ready in 2-3 years, the 5-year term makes me skeptical.
I am fine with the AAV after what Jarry got.
I like that I couldn’t read any of the reaction to Korpisalo’s signing yesterday cause it seems like people didn’t like it.
Term jumped at me too but they had to get a goalie. I think it has potential to be a great tandem.
One positive development from Korpisalo signing is contract structure.
First deal in recent memory where money isn't all backloaded making it more difficult to trade or buy-out.
That was the way things were done under the previous cash-poor regime.
