@AmericanAir This led to running from one end of connecting airport to the other with no time to eat before a 5 hour flight that had turned into over 7 hours on the plane and counting.
My streak of late @AmericanAir flights remains unbroken. After sitting for two hours on the plane waiting for a part to be fixed, we arrived at an airport with no gates available and sit again.
@AmericanAir Better communication would go a long way. First flight said it was on time when the plane wasn’t even at the gate at departure time. It was obvious it was delayed by anyone seeing it hadn’t left the previous airport by the time it was supposed to be at the gate.
@MountJoyNews There was a similarly-sized branch completely blocking Marietta Avenue on the south side of the Amtrak bridge, but it was cleaned up fairly quickly.
@StephenJ_Caruso Meanwhie, how many state agencies are incurring late fees with no spending authority due to budget impasse? Sounds like Pennsylvanians paying the price.
@DPearsonPHL@Eagles Say 16k people take SEPTA to NRG for the game. Thats $5 per rider, or $2.50 each way. Charging extra for sports express runs would cover the cost and still be 90% cheaper than parking at the stadium.
@DPearsonPHL Yes, I'm sure those are factors. However, it would be good to see a deeper dive into specifics to counteract the arguments of mismanagement. Seeing expenses skyrocket after being relatively stable 2013-2019 is concerning, esp. with fare revenue down.
@DPearsonPHL Looking at SEPTA's Open Data portal, passenger revenue is roughly half pre-pandemic (Broad Street line), but allocated expenses have gone up way more ($100M to $150M). Similar pattern for other lines. Why are expenses up so much?
@SenatorMartinPA Isn't spending down savings (both PTTF and Rainy Day Fund) the definition of a structural deficit? If capital backlog isn't as big as stated, then would reducing future capital budget and allowing current year revenue to fund operating at a higher level be a solution?
@SenatorMartinPA I looked at PennWatch to find out why there's extra money sitting in the Public Transportation Trust Fund. Looks like the biggest surplus is in "Asset Improvement," but @SenatorMartinPA says the bill senate passed wouldn't cut asset projects. Where's $$ from?
Got to meet my new senator at the fair tonight. Of course I mentioned the importance of saving the Keystone Service on Amtrak so I can get to work. He said others have said they take Amtrak from Lancaster County then SEPTA to get to specialized doctors in Philadelphia.
