The Romans wanted Jesus' allegiance.
The Pharisees wanted Jesus' compliance.
The crowds wanted Jesus' performance.
The Disciples wanted Jesus' significance.
The Zealots wanted Jesus' violence.
Many see Jesus through utilitarian eyes. Jesus will not bow down to our agendas.
For too many Pastors their emotional stability is married to the Church—when their church is growing, they feel successful, when their church is stagnet, they feel like a failure.
We must find ourselves hidden in Christ, not on the roller coaster of our competency.

Emotionally unhealthy leaders want others to follow them indefinitely, nurturing inappropriate levels of dependency.

I'm not all that interested in learning from "Successful" leaders. Success doesn't tell me if they compromised character in order to gain success.
I'm way more interested in learning from healthy people. In the tsunami of moral compromise being healthy is the ultimate success.

Jesus says, “let your yes be yes and no be no. Anything beyond this comes from the evil one.” It’s drastic language, but Jesus is fully aware of what lying & lack of integrity of speech does to us.

The goal is not just to see bigger church budgets and larger attendance. The goal is for individuals, transformed by God’s grace, to become a community of fully devoted followers of Jesus.
