I recently watched a thought-provoking YouTube video (linked below) shared by one of my paralegals. It features an interview with a Massachusetts homeowner who received a letter from her insurance company threatening to cancel her policy unless she trimmed tree branches overhanging her roof, based on footage captured by a drone flying over her property. This raises serious questions about potential privacy concerns and the use of drones by insurers to monitor homes.

The situation highlighted in the video suggests homeowners may face unexpected demands for maintenance based on aerial surveillance, which could feel intrusive or unfair. It made me wonder about the balance between an insurer’s right to assess risk and a homeowner’s right to privacy.

My experiences with insurance claim issues in Massachusetts and Rhode Island have inspired me to run for the Massachusetts House of Representatives in the 8th Bristol District in the 2026 election. My campaign will focus on advocating for stronger oversight by the Commonwealth’s Division of Insurance and Attorney General’s Office to ensure insurance companies act in good faith and prioritize policyholders’ interests.

Through my work, I’ve seen how some insurers rely on questionable practices that can disadvantage homeowners, often without transparency or accountability. I aim to push for legislation that promotes fairness, protects homeowners’ rights, and ensures claims processes serve policyholders first.
