@MeinGottNiles Everything else is, I think, reading one's own priors into the situation. I've looked at private AAA engagement numbers, and they are decoupled from media cycles about wokeness etc. They are rather coupled to game quality and the general economy.

@MeinGottNiles As production costs rose, the need to make more money to cover expenses also rose, and games become blander and easier to appeal to a broad audience. Same thing with movies and the 2nd screen effect. Even without the social changes games would still be dull and generic.

@owroot It's fascinating to see how underdeveloped DC was, but the specific situation depicted looks like it only lasted a few years. What I wonder: how long did the monument sit there as the terminus of DC?

@owroot The reflecting pool was constructed soon after the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial: I'm assuming the memorial itself was the anchor for the development of the space between it and the Washington Monument.
