Until the Chinese government or its embassy in the Philippines disavows these “scholars” claiming Batanes, I encourage all Filipinos to boycott all Chinese brands in the Philippines. I ask the Philippine government to review its “one China” policy in the light of Chinese actions.
@qiaohuanxin Wrong on point 2. The treaty states “the islands of Cagayan” - plural. The “islands of Cagayan” refer to the Batanes group of islands. Batanes only became a province in 1909 and was previously a sub province of Cagayan.
@PatrickZhengCHN Idiot. The treaties you cite predate UNCLOS and the 200nm EEZ as defined. UNCLOS became international law in November 1994, after a majority of UN members ratified it. The letter you cite predates UNCLOS becoming international law and is not legally binding.
@ricwe123 Let’s go over this 1/ Expanding education = delivery drivers with college degrees 2/ Strengthening healthcare = still not free, the people are one sickness away from falling back into poverty 3/ world class infrastructure = unused, tofu dreg, prestige projects.
@ArmyRecognition Frigates but not in the modern sense because of the lack of aviation facilities. Not a corvette since designed for blue water operations.
@Chinaembmanila The Philippines does not trust China in anything so why should the Philippines engage in bilateral negotiations? If you are talking about something arbitrary and unilateral, why not talk about the nine (ten) dash line?
@radarph_media 1/ The indigenous Taiwanese are an Austronesian people linguistically and genetically. Anthropologists have proven that all Austronesian peoples have descended from their stock.
@radarph_media 2/ We are fine with the Taiwanese keeping it, but if China invades, we reserve the right to take back our ancestral motherland from them.
@Drethegrater It was never a FFG - no long range radar and missiles. Not a corvette since designed for blue water operations in terms of range. So, it’s a FF by default, but not by modern standards because of the lack of a helicopter.
@MightyWar3 I don’t see why the US would object to the transfer of either the Harpoon or the RUR-5. The Harpoon version is a Block 1C which was introduced 40 years ago. The RUR-5 is even older, developed in the 50s but updated in the 90s and is only used by Japan and Taiwan currently.
@Njfoo You use this rough method to test for the presence of oxygen (fire burns at oxygen at or above 21% concentration) or the presence of carbon dioxide (fire goes out at 15% concentration). Carbon dioxide is heavier than air and can concentrate in low lying, poorly ventilated areas.
@boomers_ass From RPLC, 486nm. From RPLH, 350 nm. This is why EDCA is vital for Taiwan’s defense. RPLH has a 2100m runway, while RPLC has 2 3200m runways. RPLH for CAP aircraft and RPLC for IFR and AEW aircraft.
@escalonamar The indigenous Taiwanese people are Austronesian in both language and genetically. Anthropologists have proven that it is the ancestral homeland of the Austronesian people. As the closest Austronesian country, the Philippines has a claim on Taiwan.
