Liberalism is meant to be a partial critique within a larger love for the country and its culture, a way to reform what is unjust while preserving what is good. All too often in our present moment, “American” liberals treat everything American as suspect or contemptible; they attack not just unjust laws, but the very “essence” of the nation. They target its history, its faith, and even its fundamental values and morality. If we are to be honest, what we find in large portions of the left is no longer liberalism. Instead, what we observe is a kind of self-destructive nihilism masquerading as progress. We are witnessing the rise of America’s beast, the same force that has plagued and devastated Western civilization in Europe, the Ouroboros of America.

Appreciate the thoughtful response. My aim in that post was not to defend Candace or Tucker, but to avoid writing off all of their audiences as hopeless.
I agree there is a subset of people who seem completely uninterested in critical thinking and who contradict themselves constantly (Ouroboros) . That is real and it is a problem.

I also think many people who end up in those spaces are there because outrage driven content and foreign or anti American narratives exploit emotional reactions more than raw intelligence. Those people are still reachable if we lower the level of insult and raise the level of evidence and patient argument.

My “IQ test” line was trying to point to that difference. The question is not “are you smart,” but “are you willing to slow down, fact check, and be persuadable by reality instead of viral clips.”

And just to be clear, I am critiquing the dynamic from the outside. I am not placing myself in that camp, and I am trying not to treat everyone who watches them as if they are.

@politicalsteam I agree! When I saw he was a guest on PBD again, on a one on one interview, I made sure to watch it. Jeremy is a brilliant man, not just gifted with intelligence but gifted with a prophetic eye and a pure heart. I appreciate his candor in what he could share.

@GrahamAllen I do not agree with anything she’s been up to since leaving DW. I believe her current thing is truly disgusting and abhorrent, but she may seek forgiveness before judgement. I pray that this would be the case for her mortal soul, and that she abandons this grift with the algo!
