#MorningPrayer
Lord Jesus,
give us a determination
to take the narrow way
in our following of you:
the way that leads us to confront
the injustices of the world
with your love;
the way that leads us to bring
to the conflicts of the world
your peace;
the way that shows you to all.
#MorningPrayer
Germinate our faith, Lord Jesus;
may the life of your kingdom
grow in us and permeate the world.
Let our hope rise
in the warmth of your grace,
that all may be infused by your peace.
Keep us from being constrained
by our fear and prejudices;
free us into your love.
#MorningPrayer
You call us, Lord Jesus,
as your community of disciples,
to bear fruit for your kingdom;
the fruit of love, of hope,
of justice, of peace.
Ignite our passions
for the things of your kingdom,
and inspire us to share them
with all around us,
living your gospel today.
@lukeappleton 3/ female church leaders in Romans and elsewhere and gives instructions on women having their heads covered in communal worship when praying and prophesying in the very letter to Corinthians also used to justify keeping women quiet.

@lukeappleton 2/ Paul also seems to have a different view elsewhere in his letters to the passage in Timothy - he sent Romans with Phoebe, a deacon despite what modern translations claim he says in Timothy, who would also read and explain the letter in Rome, pays special tribute to various 2/
@kevinmyoung I must admit that why I tell myself my time is too valuable to listen to those who clearly think differently to me, there is an element of fear of whether my position will survive challenge. Experience here and on Facebook when I did engage lead to the my earlier conclusion!
#MorningPrayer
Open our eyes, our hearts,
our minds, and our souls, Lord Jesus,
to your presence and your activity
within and among us
today and every day.
Help us to see
the signs of your kingdom,
to understand and heed
your call upon us,
and make the choice
to walk in your way.
@virgilwalker That is simply untrue, but nice of you to make clear you don't really know the Bible - a great guide to your credibility and actual beliefs and what you worship and hold dear.
#MorningPrayer
Lord our God,
Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer;
Father, Son, Holy Spirit,
you invest yourself
and your love in us.
May we then be like you
in giving of who we are
and what we have
to the mission of your gospel,
the revealing of your kingdom,
the bringing of your peace.
#MorningPrayer
Guide us, Lord Jesus,
by the wisdom of the Holy Spirit,
that we may be generous in our giving
of our time, talents and treasures
to support one another,
to further the way of your kingdom,
to reveal your love, mercy,
hope and peace to all people,
to give you glory.
@lukeappleton 2/ "us"/"me"/"you" - the one "hidden in Christ" - and hence "finding myself" seems a good description of the journey of Spiritual growth.
It was St Augustine who said in 'Confessions' "You {God} were within, but I was without. You were with me, but I was not with you."
END
@lukeappleton A number of thoughts; what were we in your opinion put here to do? And what Biblical basis do you have for saying it isn't to "find ourselves"?
My current view is humanity was created to delight in God and for God to delight in us - and God's delight in the true, the real 1/
@ZackPolanski@CarolineLucas Is not a pressing question now whether those who could be seen as inviting such despicable acts will prove as immune to answering to the law for their actions as they seem immune from facing proper media scrutiny?
And will the media continue to give them a prime platform?
@lukeappleton 2/ become ever more like Him through the Spirit. The true 'you' and the true 'me' is that formed by the Spirit into the image of Jesus.
That is within all of us - I forget which Church Father said that God was always within us, fighting to get out to be the us people see.
@lukeappleton Don't imagine that 'finding yourself' is different from 'finding wisdom'. As Christians, do we not believe God created humanity in His image and sin spoilt what God declared to be 'very good'. Jesus Christ represents true humanity and calls us to follow Him that we may 1/
