@dsawyer Absolutely agree. It’s openly admitted that prison mgmt allows and encourages the “top dog” hierarchy, because it makes it easier to run the prison. But that tends to point to rapes and assaults thus being state-sanctioned. Karmelo Anthony needs to pay for his crime, but… rape?
@messedupfoods I love how another 10% has been added every time I see this. 15% is traditional in the U.S. We think we need to keep increasing the percentage because inflation. We need to increase the number of students held back in school because they don’t know how math works.
@RubenGallego I have no objection to raising the cap if we’re gonna keep the system. But why do you assume only the Dems will do this? And what are the odds they take back both houses and the White House in the next ten years?
@Bitcoin_Teddy This is such a ridiculous way to express it. We all pay the same percentage, up to the cap. Instead of this silly-ass attempt to calculate an effective rate for a mythical salary, how about just discussing raising the cap in order to maintain solvency?
@ewarren Money seized by the Democratic Party is not “wealth.” It is a war chest for a leviathan state. You will not “invest,” you will channel money into the (failing) NGOs who support you.
@Tundru_DireWolf@BraddrofliT And million-dollar handouts to NGOs run by the fraternity brothers of local politicians. I have helped write my County’s budget. The services you name are less than 20% of it.
@MikeNellis No Republican I’ve met would say, “We shouldn’t feed kids.” But you assume “we should” means “government must appropriate the funds from taxpayers and do it ‘for us.’” The U.S. government was neither created nor empowered to do all that “we should.”
@omgsidewalks Because it’s stealing. Period. When we lose the protections for private property, we’re no longer a civilization. We’re a complicated colony of animals.
@BrokeDad360 In my County, property taxes also pay for Universal Basic Income, multi-million dollar arts awards to NGOs, libraries that serve as progressive education centers… I’ll take my money back on those and give the snow-plow drivers bonuses.
@yonann Simply untrue. If you want a Dell or HP with the same power, same warranty, same longevity as the Mac, you pay $1800. I’ve worked on too many $350 Wal-Mart specials for too many friends and relatives. “Why is it so SLOW?” ‘Cause you paid $350 for it.
