@theJadeMyers@SouthernULaw Best of luck @theJadeMyers. I hate you weren’t able to do this in Shreveport. We are still committed to bringing legal education to Shreveport.
Honored to stand with Henry Whitehorn Sr as he prepares to lead the men and women of the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office! I’m praying for his success and looking forward to working with him.

Last week, @KimHunterReed traveled to North Louisiana to visit @SUShreveport, @LSU_Shreveport, and the annual SBBA Higher Education Summit.
At the Summit, she emphasized the importance of collaboration between institutions and legislative bodies.

Gov. Jeff Landry's budget line-item vetoes have been posted online. Among items vetoed, Landry removed language requiring judges to participate in workload study before they receive a one-time stipend in the judicial budget. They'll get the stipend without the study now. #lalege
Thankful for the Gov Landry’s support of efforts to repurpose the former Libbey Glass site here in Shreveport. Led by @theNLEP , the site will be demolished & remediated by end of 2025. The goal is to have the site ready to market and recruit quality jobs. #LaLege#LaGov
Thursday’s SBBA Higher Education Summit in Shreveport included a Chancellor & President’s Panel with the eight area postsecondary institutions as well as a Legislators Panel with Rep. Bamburg, Rep. Phelps, and Rep. Turner.

@rjamesfinn What’s really interesting is HB461 before amended was word for word identical to ACT 175 of 2018 that provided this same exemption for LaPorts. You may recognize several names in the “Yes” column. There was only one “No” vote in the entire #LaLege 👀🔍

@meg_friedmann That’s probably because they realized they had already voted on this bill in 2018 when then Senator Miller brought the exact same legislation for ports. Word for word! You might recognize a lot of names still in the #LaLege https://t.co/EmBqlJW1gi
I’m looking forward to highlighting the funding victories we were able to secure for Shreveport-Bossier region this legislative session. #LaLege .#LaGov

We are excited to announce the launch of the transformational Xavier Ochsner School of Medicine (#XOCOM), which will be in the burgeoning BioDistrict New Orleans, located downtown in the Benson Tower! (1/2)
I have enjoy being in Baton Rouge working on policy and legislation, but it always feels great to be back in the district serving the community and connecting with the people! A 6f #LaLege#LaGov#HD2
Louisiana state Rep. @DeeBoydBroker proposed legislation that would add exceptions for rape and incest to the state's abortion ban. #Lalege#LaGov https://t.co/1QOIlQhu8O

✅HB461 requires a public agency apart of the active negotiations to issue a public notice .
✅ HB 461 requires all records and expenses be preserved.
✅ HB461 doesn’t apply to any deals related to hazardous waste or storage.
@MelindaDeslatte Pt 1:My bill is a direct response from many parish and city leaders across the state who continue to see economic development projects be undermined by cities and counties in competing states. The media is being very misleading on this issue.
House votes 79-18 for Democratic Rep. Steven Jackson's bill to create a broad public records exemption for local government agencies to shield for up to two years documents involving active negotiations for economic development projects. HB461 heads to Senate for debate. #lalege
@MelindaDeslatte Pt2 There is nothing broad about HB461 bill:
✅HB 461 simple add city and parish government to an existing records exemption is already on the books for LED and Ports.
✅HB461 is narrowly confined to economic development negotiations.
I had a great morning discussing issues related to #blackmaternalhealth with the ladies of Phi Gamma Omega Chapter of @akasorority1908 ..Thanks, Rep. Ed Larvadain III, for the invite and welcoming me to Pineville, La.
@MelindaDeslatte Pt4 I’ve seen many instances where local government can’t be at the negotiation table for fear of jeopardizing confidentiality. What would we be okay allowing Alabamas defensive coordinator in the huddle with LSUs office? Why are we ok with this?
