It would be nice if there was such a thing as life row for convicted heinous murderers who do not get the death penalty. Far too many of them enjoy a celebrity status amongst their fellow prisoners. Especially the women. I am grateful the Morin family got the #justice they deserved for Rachel. My Heart goes out to them. I know they went through hell and back during that trial.

Today I wish to speak to #victims of violent crimes. For so long I held onto the hatred I had for my brother Travis’ murderer. It filled me with rage and I only thought of the way he left this world instead of the way he lived in it. I would drowned myself in alcohol thinking it would help. It only made it worse. The drinking only got worse as well. Eventually I became an #alcoholic. I was trapped in my woe and misery. I kept myself from enjoying the life my brother hoped I would have. I remember the night I had an epiphany. I was living in hell and only I was keeping myself there. In that moment I forgave Travis’ murderer. As the tears were falling down my face, I felt an immense weight lifted off my shoulders. Happiness immediately filled my heart and I could see my brother’s smiling face. I did not forgive her for her sake but for mine. Today I am grateful to be in #recovery. Now when I see an image or story of her, I don’t remember the horrible images of Travis’ body put up in the court room. I see his gentle smile and hear his uncontrollable laugh. When I see her, it’s like swiping left. She has no control over me anymore. I forgive you Jodie Arias. Not for you but for me! God knows you definitely have not asked for it. You could start by telling the truth. So to victims of violent crimes, although it may be hard, forgive your offender if you can. Not for them but for you!
