Worth considering that by pegging coverage on duration of run, earlier readsets will have a lower N50.
I'd highly recommend Rasusa for random subsampling, which from testing doesn't bias read length distribution.

Small update to my blog post on @nanopore R10.4.1 accuracy:
https://t.co/bKb6gDQ1eU
@scientist_me asked if I tried Flye assembles, and while I hadn't, I thought it was a good idea. So I've now added Flye and Canu assemblies to the results.
(1/4)
@rrwick I wonder if part of the Canu edge is its use of read correction/trimming/downsampling?
Be interested to see how Flye performs on the Canu-corrected reads, and if that improves Medaka polishing given the training set is based on Flye assemblies.
Have you read our latest blog by @hannahpugh? She takes us behind the scenes of her research 'E. coli ST11 (O157:H7) does not encode a functional AcrF efflux pump', published in microbiology and led by @JessicaMABlair. Read it on our website here 👉https://t.co/FgE8ioavj5
