My answer has always been simple, “No. I have values. I cannot dine with our oppressors.”

I have always been a successful businessman in event organising.Every event organiser knows that sometimes you make heavy losses especially when it rains. For example, Sauti Sol once went into a debt of KSh 12 million after rain disrupted their Kisumu event.

Every event organiser raises money through friends and partners. I lost close to KSh 500,000 in a single day,I was expecting to make more than a Million,and that is how I fell into debt.

I had a verbal payment plan with the people I owed, and they agreed to it.

Since June 2024, the government stopped paying me because of my activism. They have used every possible method of intimidation to silence me. I have been arrested four times this year and have spent more than 40 days in police and prison cells.

They influenced people I owed money to turn against me and take me to court so that I could be arrested, which I was.

The intimidation never stopped. A civil debtor is not supposed to wear a "KUNGURU"and should be held in remand, yet I became the first civil debtor in history to wear a KUNGURU.

I also became the first civil debtor to be transferred to a prison with no remand facility. I was taken to Ruiru Prison, which does not have remand, and allowed officers from the NIS to interrogate me"why?"

I was denied access to my phone,yet I had posted my number,people and people had sent money,there was enough money to get me out.i spent 3 weeks there.

I also became the first prison officer to serve time in a prison where I once worked. A jailed prison officer is not supposed to serve time in a prison they previously worked at.

I slept in the same cell with people I once guarded. My life was in danger,but fortunately, I had always maintained good relationships with inmates, and they treated me well.

Prison officers were allowed to take photos of me to shame me in their groups. Every time I noticed, I smiled and posed.i came across this picture.

That gesture meant TRIBELESS. I was happy that Kenyans from every tribe stood with me until I finally got out.

I am now hoping to get back on my feet.
