This is potentially the most important report that I've ever worked on. Unless and until we harness the international financial architecture to delivering the Paris Agreement, there will be no transition. Please retweet #COP27#BrettonWoods2
Concerned about fracturing of UK political consensus on climate action
Chopping and changing policies creates uncertainty for businesses and the public
Ultimately this makes it more difficult to attract investment and pushes up costs for consumers

"Almost certainly the debate that 1.5°C remains plausible is going to have to change," @AvivaUK@stevewaygood says on upcoming #COP28. https://t.co/EI3pLFH3vZ
This is cynical beyond belief.
The PM is pretending to halt frightening proposals that simply do not exist.
He is doing it to turn the environment into a US-style political wedge issue - something the UK has avoided all my political life.
Sunak is chucking the environment into a political fire purely to score points.
It is reprehensible.
This would be a major mistake and one that risks undermining investor and business confidence. We need credible policies to drive investment and realise the benefits of the transition to a cleaner, safer, and more productive net zero economy. https://t.co/pLs3A7v5Ok
I just don’t know how you can call for a more honest discussion of the costs of net zero and not once mention the costs of inaction.

Author of 'Loading the Dice Against Pension Funds' @ProfSteveKeen warns of an unpleasant, abrupt & wealth destroying “Climate Minsky moment” with a sudden collapse in asset values as markets realise the gap between mainstream economist forecasts & the reality of climate impacts⚠️
In this letter to the @FT, @stevewaygood, Aviva Investors’ Chief Responsible Investment Officer, emphasizes the importance of investor engagement on climate change and advocates for a swift shift towards macro stewardship.

A major shift is taking place in global energy
5 years ago, for $1 invested in fossil fuels, the same went to clean energy. But since then, a big gap has opened up.
This year, for $1 invested in fossil fuels, $1.70 is going to clean energy ➡️ https://t.co/rVJUZP9xC3

As a decision on granting permission for a new coal mine in Cumbria looms, some facts:
- 85% of coal produced would be for export, not domestic use
- two major UK steel producers won’t necessarily use much of the coal, not least due to its composition and sulphur content
