Trying to find the funny side of football (seriously!) and making it up using left overs in the fridge. A football stew...or a casserole if you're posh.
@otcpod@andybrassell@Jon_LeGossip Of the "big 4" Continental leagues (Spain, France, Italy & Germany) which club, amongst those newly promoted to the top division, do you think will do best and have a longer term future up there beyond one or two seasons?
Quite surprised that UEFA had the cohones to oppose this FIFA proposal in such a meaningful way.👏
Excuse me for mixing sports but this puts the entire idea of inviting private investors into the World Cup on a very sticky wicket.
European nations have agreed to boycott the World Cup over FIFA’s plans to sell stakes in the tournament to private investors.
The decision was taken at a virtual meeting of the 55 national associations which are members of UEFA, the European football confederation, on Thursday, according to sources with knowledge of the meeting.
The next World Cup in the calendar is the women’s edition in Brazil next summer, followed by the men’s tournament in Spain, Portugal and Morocco in 2030.

RIP Kevin Keegan, one of the truly great internationalists in England's history. Inspirational to many youngsters in the Seventies, he was one of the hardest working players I've seen. And a pretty good one at that.

🤍 🕊️ A statement on behalf of Kevin Keegan’s family:
“It is with immense sadness that we announce that Kevin Keegan has passed away at the age of 75.
“Kevin had been battling cancer and was surrounded by his wife and daughters in his final moments.
“A double Ballon D’or winner, Kevin was a much loved husband, father and grandfather.
“The family would like to thank Kevin’s incredible medical team for all their support.
“This is a hugely difficult time and they are requesting space and privacy.”

A tragic day in Portuguese football as Boavista are forced to shut down and cease all operations. The end of a historic 123-year old institution.
One of just 5 teams to have ever won the Portuguese top flight, this marks the painful demise of one of Portugal's biggest clubs.
I was at Dens Park that night he made the save v Dundee. Truly jaw dropping.
I never thought I'd see a save from a header as good as Gordon Banks in the 70 World Cup but, fully 56 years later, there it is...

The "back 5" subs used by Tuchel in previous games backfired tonight. If gave Argentina no option but to charge forward - which they accepted gleefully - and they gathered momentum & the upper hand.

Big call tonight from Tuchel to start Rogers on the right flank in the semifinal - "it's just a feeling I have"
Not the logical tactical decision you'd expect from a German!

I see the media are touting Benitez as a potential candidate for the Scotland job. No doubt he is a great tactician but today's managers have a level of empathy with their players which was not exactly his strong point.
And if fans thought Clarke's teams were a bit negative...
I'm certain ITV's Mark Pougatch knew exactly what he was doing when he asked the pundits - which included Roy Keane & Patrick Viera - how do professionals manage to keep their cool under severe provocation. 😜🤣

Tonight on That's TV (channel 150 on virgin media) is the hilarious repeat of that 1973 Likely Lads episode where they attempt to avoid the score of an England match in order to watch the highlights later that night.
Brilliant!🤣🤣

What a game! Argentina may have the best player in the World but more than that, they have heart & desire, a real street fighting attitude.
They're not surrendering their World title meekly that's for sure.

The most astonishing thing about tonight's match? Not that underdogs Norway eliminated Brazil but the peculiarly casual way Haaland took his second goal. Almost like he was shooting during a training drill.

Folarin Balogun will be available to play the USMNT’s round of 16 match against Belgium with his one-game red-card ban suspended.
The 25-year-old received a straight red card against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Multiple FIFA officials told The Athletic after the game that a team is not able to appeal against a red card or the subsequent suspension.
However, Balogun is set to be available to face Rudi Garcia’s side as his suspension has been suspended.

Was really looking forward to tonight's World Cup encounter. Now found out that the co-commentator is Lee Dixon.🤦♂️
Suppose I could always watch it with the sound muted...
