@wholemars @starnevs That’s a bit of an exaggeration, but it isn’t as simple as swapping in the steer by wire rack. 48V mid voltage system needs to replace the 12V system, so components from Cybertruck or new 48V electronics would be needed, New wiring harnesses, might as well go 800V HV too.

I was just educating a first time EV owner. He didn’t understand his Ionic 5 N needs both an NACS adapter for DC fast charging and an NACS-J1772 adapter for AC charging using Tesla chargers.

It’s about whether they are being intelligently implemented in a way which allows a predictable and safe path for businesses to adapt.

@clearSNR @argoexp @Mark_J_Perry This is the crux of the issue. You cannot easily or quickly move any of these manufacturing sectors back to the US. Not without 3+years MINIMUM. The machinery, the supply chains, the construction or renovation of factories all take not weeks or months but years.
