Last night they tested the UFC stage lighting at the White House. Check it out.
The People’s House is looking more like a Six Flags amusement park after dark. It’s embarrassing.
11 months ago, while recovering from a double lung transplant, a barely recognizable Ben Askren told the world:
“I am where I am right now, but I’m going to be somewhere different in a month. I’m going to work my ass off and I’m going to get better.”
But if we're being honest, expectations for "getting better" were all over the place. This was a guy who had just:
🔻 “Only died four times.”
🔻 Spent weeks on a ventilator and ECMO.
🔻 Lost 50 pounds in 45 days.
🔻 Couldn't walk.
🔻 Could barely lift a 5-pound weight.
Despite all of that, he clearly wasn’t lying about working his ass off to get better.
If anything, he undersold it.
Yesterday, on Ariel Helwani’s show, Askren announced his return to competition, wrestling former UFC champion Belal Muhammad at @RAFWrestlingUSA 11 on July 18 in his home state of Wisconsin.
An unprecedented comeback that legitimately started with survival.
Undoubtedly one of the craziest and most inspiring stories in sports and beyond.

Oh my god. Look at the way his arm was trapped. Horrific submission by Leandro Antunez to break the arm of Gean Pinheiro. Not sure I've seen anything like this. #IronmanMMA
This was Chris Finch 2 years ago, before OKC won anything.
Instead of the league doing anything about it then, the entire team has evolved into untouchable floppers.
Media heads are now all repeating the same PR propaganda acting like we’re all blind.
Shaimeless league.
