@AlexndraRobbins Congratulations on the book! I’ll be reading. I spent most of my career in the public library but I’ve also been an elementary media specialist & then taught in the classroom 1 & 2 grade. Hardest job hands down.Books to hundreds thousands or books 1:1. It’s got be in your heart.
Really enjoying “The House in the Pines” until 20 yr old main character who works part time at the library is called a librarian. Repeatedly. Librarian pet peeve- we work hard for a master’s degree to earn that title. It’s not a walk in off the street option #Reading#FridayReads
@AlexndraRobbins It’s always been a thing w/the general public. But when fiction spreads that misconception to readers, that’s frustrating. Libraries in fiction have been having a moment which is great but if you got a librarian in your novel- get a librarian beta reader or ask 1 about their job
@NYC_stateofmind@pronounced_ing What they mean is that you only think/care for others who agree with you that’s been made abundantly clear. I’m so sorry as a teacher & a fellow special needs parent. The ridiculousness & illogical thinking that we had in classrooms about this astounds me. Our kids paid the price
@scottackerson1 @Eamon2Please @AnneZinga@MeghanMcCain We don’t have autism “gene” or a test for autism in utero but you know facts are not important apparently…
@greggutfeld Someone wasn’t a preteen girl in the 90s and it shows. How do you make a teen girl in the attic joke and not know V.C. Andrews ? LOL ...I got you @EmilyCompagno
@Scott_Maxwell It’s absolutely heartbreaking how many of “the 800” students left hanging from 2018/2019 are now part of the 4,000+ “error” this year. Many are so afraid they will receive no funding again. That’s not success in serving these families or these children despite the SUFS branding.
Wow on this story from @lesliepostal: Thousands of Florida students with disabilities whose parents rely on vouchers to help pay for their education and therapy are still waiting for the money 2 months into the school year bc of a “data entry error.” https://t.co/xtNxnyyQur
Parents said "their calls and emails to Step Up For Students, the private agency that administers the scholarship, and the state education department provided little information."
Worth noting: Last session, the Legislature voted to provide *less* oversight over Step Up.
@GovRonDeSantis My child is a 7 yr Gardiner renewal still unfunded. I’ve been given no logical explanation why. As if the pandemic changes are not enough on him, we are getting stress NOT help from @StepUp4Students@DougTuthill @ginalynchSUFS We owe these 4,000+ children answers.
@Scott_Maxwell@FLBaloney@lesliepostal Thank you for doing this. We’re a 7 yr Gardiner renewal waiting for funding. We have received no real answers as to how or why. My son waits 2 months into the school year, as a parent & teacher,it’s disgraceful. There should be transparency & accountability. We get lies & silence
