@breakfasttv I’m an admin in the HPEDSB and the safety of our students is our top priority. It would be very challenging to dismiss students at 3:30 in the middle of this solar eclipse. Scary actually. I’m thankful that many school boards have made this decision.
Two SPS students participated in the district spelling bee held at Bayside Secondary school on Saturday. Hunter represented the junior division and Jamie represented the intermediates. Both students performed so well, and Jamie was the intermediate winner! Great job 😁
KHT visited Bloom’s Flower Shop earlier this week. Thank you Sharon, Karen and Valerie for such a memorable, hands-on learning experience! We love our Stingers community.
Opening night was a success! A huge congratulations to all students and staff involved in this production, especially this fearsome foursome - Ms. Vandersel, Mrs. Cooney, Mrs. Bush, and Mrs. Courneyea. Way to go Stingers!!
The SPS Rotary Club Spelling Bee took place yesterday! Congratulations to all of our winners! A huge thank you to Mrs. Burns for organizing, and to Mrs. Kerr, Mrs. MacKenzie-Coates, and Cory (from Rotary) for supporting this event!
Stinger families - please consider donating to this worthy cause - organized by our Grade 2 student, Anika, and her family. There will be a donation box in the office 💞
Our Grade 5 students have been learning all about how municipal government works and had visits last week from Mayor Bob Mullin and Councillor Caroline Smith!
Congratulations to our Crossing Guard Ruth!! She was Mix97’s “Schoolday hero of the week” last week. Ruth always greets students and families with a friendly smile and hello. Thank you for being such a positive member of our Stinger community Ruth!

Why are we always playing with playdough? It’s open ended, builds fine motor muscles, encourages oral language, is a calming sensory experience & sparks rich math. Ss are creating monsters sparked by Amanda Noll’s book series paired with chatterpix to extend the experience.
We started learning buddies with Mrs. Peltzer’s grade 2 class today. It was so amazing to see the leadership roles the grade 6s took on. Everyone had a great time getting to know each other!
