@ekotoblast@asgaronean1134@God_Questioner Just because God knows what we’re going to do with our free will, does not mean we are not freely making the choice. I can predict what flavor of ice cream someone is going to get if I go with them enough times, that does not mean I control their flavor choice
@TailingLoop66@TradeWithSpiff@mkeBucks11@JustBotBecky That would probably solve most of it, yeah. Still some predators out there tho, but it would certainly be easier to identify them if we all collectively agreed to be sober and chaste. A bit too much to ask from our society at this point unfortunately.
@TradeWithSpiff@TailingLoop66@mkeBucks11@JustBotBecky I don’t think he fails to see that, I think he just hesitated to say it out loud. Understandably he probably puts a premium on men protecting women and so he is naturally more upset about the men’s failures. It may be a blind spot, but it’s a well intentioned one.
@TailingLoop66@mkeBucks11@JustBotBecky I have seen women get taken advantage of as well, and it is very upsetting when that happens. I certainly understand the protective instincts of a father. And I would level the same criticism of men who save all their vitriol for the woman, and fail to criticize the men.
@TailingLoop66@mkeBucks11@JustBotBecky I forgive them equally as well, but I fear that your silence about her and condemnation of them is a demonstration of partiality, which Paul warns us about in his letters
@TailingLoop66@mkeBucks11@JustBotBecky I am no better a person than anyone involved in my mind. I’m sure many of them regret what happened, and I hope that the lawsuit is dropped, they all turn away from their particular sins, and trust in God to steer them right.
@TailingLoop66@mkeBucks11@JustBotBecky I agree. And when I say that I condemn the men and her, I hope you know that I am not putting myself above them either. I have never involved myself in something like this but I am no stranger to sexual sin and to lying for my own gain. I hope all of them turn to Christ as well.
@TailingLoop66@mkeBucks11@JustBotBecky By not saying a word about her until you’re forced to, you are tacitly showing her forgiveness which you refuse to extend to the men
@TailingLoop66@mkeBucks11@JustBotBecky And this is the problem: you think that because men need to “hold ourselves to a higher standard” we should hold our tongues when someone attempts to bear false witness to protect herself, which is the ultimate display of pride and vanity
@TailingLoop66@mkeBucks11@JustBotBecky …isn’t a prideful and vain attempt by the woman to cast herself as somehow morally better than them. Of course the men should never involve themselves in this kind of thing. But only one party here is pretending they’re above the others.
@TailingLoop66@mkeBucks11@JustBotBecky Of course not. Their behavior was degenerate and wrong. The woman was also degenerate and wrong, and now in her pride she casts herself a victim and them the perpetrators. You cannot say “regardless what the woman did” as if the whole reason we are having this conversation…
@TailingLoop66@mkeBucks11@JustBotBecky I am 100% behind you on this whole thing being a display of moral degeneracy on the part of everyone involved, very much including the men. But then when you speak publicly you should say so, and not show partiality to one over the other by keeping silent about them
@TailingLoop66@mkeBucks11@JustBotBecky It is very easy to criticize the men because it is popular, and culturally acceptable. You want to live by virtue as you claim? Speak the truth.
@TailingLoop66@mkeBucks11@JustBotBecky You are avoiding the truth: the woman is worse than the men because she fully, consensually participated in this and is now trying to ruin the lives of these men to evade responsibility. Ruining the reputation of others to save your own is evil.
