Supporting the work promoting H & C in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire. Raising awareness of the region's architecture and intangible assets @LidiceLives
On 3 June 1942 a love letter was handed to the #Gestapo which would have devastating consequences for the Czech people.
It gave #KarlFrank an excuse to create a narrative linking the village of #Lidice to the murder of #Heydrich@SoTCityCouncil@UKinCR

@luhc @DehennaDavison@SoTCityCouncil@AbiBrown1 Respect to individuals @SoTCityCouncil but these sums are insignificant. £BILLIONS are required to "level up" post industrial cities of the North to the standard of living experienced in the South East. Anyone with a grasp of economic literacy knows that.
Burnham Street: resident estimates 15-20 lorries a day. Street seems to be sinking with the weight of onslaught. Mucky brown river of silt runs from the closed up entrance of Potteries Demolition down onto King Street, then along till it disappears into a drain @SoTCityCouncil
Quietly optimistic about the response to an enquiry regarding expanding Fenton's Christmas lights more extensively across its 3 main thoroughfares - City Road, Victoria Road & King Street, making #Fenton feel like #onetown again. @alanjgerrard@cheryl_gerrard@FentonGlennLP
@fslconsult@SpatialityJones @StaffsUni @SNS_CAB @YorkUniversity Quite right. Well said Dave 👍I believe it is a fundamental principle at the heart of the German constitution that GDP per capita should be equalised across its regions. If only we had the same political will here.
The Boundary Works, built by Jacob Marsh (a potter of Toby jugs) in 1819, looks incredibly precarious.
If the city isn't watchful it's going to have yet another heritage disaster on its hands... @SoTCityCouncil@AbiBrown1@Progthrust1@fslconsult@alanjgerrard @KeithBrymer
The former hq of the Sentinel. How can such a significant building in Stoke-on-Trent's history be allowed to get into such a state? There's even a tree growing out of the roof.
I worked there in the 80s when sales of the paper were over 125,000 a day.
Missing my old mucka Sid today. It's been 5 years since the artist, famous for his deceptively evocative watercolour landscapes of mid C20th industrial Britain, left us, and he remains sorely missed by so many out there, at home & abroad.@ArtKirkham@TheartbayG@cheryl_gerrard
What a fantastic photo shared by Alan Amison. Looks like Crown Bank, Hanley c1930? Cappers would become George Mason's grocers, shop was rebuilt circa 1960. Views?
On 2nd January 1942, the Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Harry McBrine, opened a fund for the relief of the dependents of those who lost their lives in the Sneyd Colliery Disaster, the day before. Sneyd Collieries Ltd opened the fund with a contribution of £5000 @LidiceLives
