@JeremyVineOn5 As a maths graduate I would say that they should focus on getting everyone a good maths gcse. The next two years could be domestic finance such as pensions, investments savings loans mortgages etc useful for life

@HMRCcustomers sorry limited chars ... this is for the state pension. It is important to know how to calculate in your first year or after you have had a change of rate. A full year at the same rate is easy.

Calculate pension entitlement for SA
Calculate daily rate by dividing monthly rate by 28.
Multiply by number of days between your start date (or 6April) and 6th April. If you have 2 rates then you need to calculate before and after the date it changed and add.

2 ... If not reconciled with SA figure, search for extra arrears payments into your bank. I spent such a long time trying to reconcile the figures. Hope I save you time.

My pension entitlement for my first part year state pension has been adjusted by HMRC to an incorrect amount. WHO do I contact about correcting the mistake? I believe that if this is wrong for me then it will be wrong for everyone in the first year.

@MartinSLewis @itvMLshow While you are on this subject is there anything you can do to campaign for a better it system for dealing with this. Having to call several numbers and wait in q for ages is beyond comprehension
