It is alleged that a high-ranking SAPS official from Kimberley Flying Squad raped a girl, 15, in De Aar, Northern Cape, on 12 August 2024. The alleged rape occurred after the girl accepted a lift from the suspect, 46, as she knew him from church. Instead of driving the girl home, the suspect drove her to a guest house in a police vehicle, raped her, bought her KFC, and dropped her home.
Two days later, the suspect allegedly attempted to rape the girl again after picking her up and taking her to the same location. Despite threats, the girl reported the horrific incident to her family, and a case was opened.
The family of a young girl believes the perpetrator is being shielded from prosecution. The police officer has not been arrested or suspended, and the family fears for the girl's safety, as he is still working in the same area. The family confirms that the girl remains traumatised and is refusing to attend school after she endured this horrific attack. She has also not been offered counseling, and there has been no cooperation from authorities.
Women For Change is outraged that a police officer is - once again - is involved in such heinous acts, and we demand the immediate arrest and suspension of the perpetrator. #womenforchange @SAPoliceService@IanCameron23@Senzo_Mchunu_
I can’t stop thinking about the kids in Nuba. The fact that nearly 200 children have died of hunger, with undoubtedly more now, is devastating. Please donate to organizations like HRRDS! There’s no reason why aid shouldn’t be delivered here. #EyesOnNuba#KeepEyesOnSudan
🙏🏿Take the time to watch this in honor of #MichaelaDePrince. Though she grew up in the ashes of unimaginable horror, pain, & tragedy, like dust she rose. Fo her life to end so abruptly at the age of 29 is heart wrenching. How can life be so cruel!😔💔💔😞
