Just a friendly reminder that "Edgar: An Autobiography" is out June 11 and can be pre-ordered on Amazon. Hmm, Father's Day is coming....

@MikeDiGiovanna@MLB Ross was the best. I grew up reading him in the LA Times, then was privileged to become his friend. An all-time great ball writer. Rest in peace.
If Cleveland wins the AL pennant, the World Series will be MLB's smallest market (Milwaukee) vs its lowest payroll team (Clev) -- or No. 25 if Tampa Bay rallies. Call it an anomaly, but absolute worst-case scenario for ownership arguing that a salary cap is essential for parity
ICYMI ... Here's a look into the mechanics of a manager search for the Mariners. There are initial interviews done over Zoom/Teams for early candidates. They want to pare a list of 20-plus candidates down to 4-5 finalists for in-person interviews.
@castrovince@MLB In my years covering national baseball, Fred was always gracious with his help, providing keen insight and invaluable background. RIP.
The announcers said they’d never seen anyone challenge whether the second baseman was illegally positioned on the outfield grass, as the White Sox just did (unsuccessfully) w/Altuve. The Mariners did that in Sept of 2025, and were successful.

Pittsburgh's Bryan Reynolds, the National League leader, barely made it with 40. The last year that no NL player hit 40 doubles in a full season is 1984.
I noticed that Wilyer Abreu of the Red Sox led the American League in doubles with 38, which sent me scurrying to the record books. It's the first time since 1974 -- 52 years -- that no one in the AL has hit 40 doubles in a full season.
Turns out the Mariners could have won the division by going 15-7 in that finishing stretch against the 97-loss A’s, the 100-loss Angels and the 104-loss Rockies (plus 3 games w/Texas). They went 10-12.
