Today, it has been officially protected from new oil and gas leasing, a huge step forward on our Administration's historic land and water conservation agenda.
He grew up without a father—his had died when he was 2, in 1929 as the country spiraled into crisis. Somehow he still figured out how to be a father, one who taught quietly about values and service to country. Deeply grateful.
