@CalebPeng (2/2)There's a lot of factors to consider and pokemon games in general having a comparibly low skill ceiling to other games (e.g. I played a lot of SC 2 back in the day), which imo a lot of players have already reached, doesn't really make it possible to draw certain conclusions.
@CalebPeng (1/2) Yeah, this was never actually intended to end in a discussion, but more of small banter.
Coming from different esports, there's an ongoing meme that NA is not a competetive region, which might be true in some cases, but can't be applied to Pokemon Go.
During the Grand Finals interview, StoneCollection said "NA is kind of free."
Here's a side by side comparision of his regional performances this season in both regions.
He might have a point.
For the first time in Play! Pokémon GO history, EU has taken the crown at a NA regional 🏆 Congratulations to @Stonecollection for his dominant run at the 🇺🇸 Seattle Regional Championships!

Idk how to express what I'm feeling right now.
I'm not able to participate in Seville since the tournament is supposed to be full.
Only 118 out of 128 players registered, only 82 teams submitted.
That means ~36% of the slots are unused while I'm sitting in front of the venue.

Rk9 at least answered me that the organizer is responsible for the tournament...
I'm really concerned of the system in place for special events right now.
Last season's was basically flawless, I don't get why it was changed at all.
It feels like it wasn't thought through.
I don't usually post stuff, but I figured I might share this.
Got #1 in GBL right now (although the current set is 1-3).
But it feels kind of awkward to "play" further.
Been waiting for 30 minutes atm and the only thing happening was my phone heating up :/
@SolreLami196@ThoTechtical I think we had a really good meta before Annihalape was introduced.
Scald existed, but that there was still a lot of play against picks like Whis.
While boosts hype the crowd for a second, a battle ending in 90sec by a x4 boost creates less hype than a close game of energy manag.
@SolreLami196@ThoTechtical I feel like if they watched the games this weekend, they have to know that something has to be changed (eg Colin vs Cachton G4 which was heartbreaking)
As you stated, balancing is really important.
But still a lot of people make the argument that GO has to follow the other games.
@SolreLami196@ThoTechtical VG may also have a lot of RNG which influences boosts, ranges and Crits etc., but it's a turn based game.
In GO you attack 'at the same time' and every boosted hit hurts.
There's no factors like Abilities, Speed, Status, Items, Weather etc. that you can use to play around boosts.
@SolreLami196@ThoTechtical I don't get why everybody is saying that GO needs RNG because other Pokemon games do.
TCG makes you flip coins but games might have dozens of 50/50 coinflips over a span of several turns so it kind of balances out.
Also card games will always be luck based on what you draw.
