What's stopping faster government action on climate? In part, the fear of being sued by fossil companies over 'lost profits' if they are no longer permitted to drill, mine & destroy. The ISDS rules literally privilege corporate power over life on earth. https://t.co/a5SaAbuSiC
“France and Spain both want to withdraw from ECT...Italy left in 2016 but is being sued under a “sunset clause” that means former members are subject to the treaty for 20 years after they have left” - #CETA also has a 20yr exit clause which will apply if it is formally ratified!
This is complete horseshit, the only reason Varadkar wants #CETA courts is so that we, the public, won't be able to stop the massive sell off of Ireland to vultures.
Ireland is not 'way behind' other countries on #CETA, it's just a blatant lie.
Has anyone considered that that's actually the plan?
Sit the housing crisis out, let it get worse, give vultures the #Ceta courts and the right to sue for stopping them.
🚨 Progress Update
@DCUSU passed a motion to #StopCETA and are committed to campaigning against it alongside other colleges.
We're building momentum, get in touch with your SU and get involved!
We welcome the news from Trinity College this morning that they will be campaigning against CETA.
This movement will only grow with time, and we will continue to show the government that CETA is not in the public interest.
A great piece with @aliceeire in @GreenNews_ie about why we should be opposing CETA.
It's never too late to get involved, send us a DM if you want to help out!
Start your (hopefully ☀️-filled) weekend right with our interview with Senator Alice-Mary Higgins (@aliceeire).
We did a deep dive on all things CETA. Check it out 👀

One of our founding members @aarongrantdj talked to @CrossonKayle of @GreenNews_ie about why we set up the campaign and what we hope to achieve.

Campaigners from @StopCetaIreland say their goal is to delay a rescheduled vote, push for a full debate on the deal and subsequently lobby for a “No” vote.

Don't know what #StopCETA is all about? read just this. It 'would allow business sue the state for compensation if the country interferes with their profits by blocking their business with public policy measures.' Close direct provision and Amarack can sue for loss of earnings.
Great to see councils across Ireland mobilise to show their opposition to #CETA and Investor Courts. 5 councils so far. 👏👏👏 Clare, Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, South Dublin. #StopCETA#PublicDebateMatters@StopCetaIreland
Great news that Monaghan County Council and Cavan County Council passed motions today asking the government to give CETA and other international trade agreements the full scrutiny and debate in the Oireachtas that it deserves before a vote takes place
