Let’s take a look at tariffs.

There are a lot of people claiming that the Trump Tariffs are inflationary. But that’s technically not true.

What is inflation?

Inflation happens when the government prints money, while not backing the money with a commodity, like gold.

But Tariffs make prices go up, so isn’t that inflation?

No Tariffs are a tax, if the money generated from the Tariffs is used to pay down the government’s debt, then they can make the dollar stronger and in turn make your paycheck go further.

But Trumps Tariffs are causing the stock market to crash!

Yes it is, but is this part of the plan?

I would argue it is. The Biden administration refinanced our debt at high interest rates and as of now the interest payments on the national debt is higher than our defense budget. This is not sustainable. If the Trump Tariffs cause the stock market to crash and investors move their money to government bonds this will cause the interest rates to drop drastically and allow the government to refinance their debt at a much lower rate saving 90 billion dollars per 1% drop.

Can Tariffs replace the Federal Income Tax?

Not a chance and if we seriously want to lower the national debt and save programs like Social Security and Medicare, we should keep both the tariffs and income tax.

Tariffs are scary, but done right they can help us dig our way out of debt and make the Dollar as strong as it was after WWII.

I don’t think it’s luck, I own several businesses, working 80+ hours a week. I struggled a lot in the beginning, but I am always working to better myself and my situation. I didn’t go to college, but never stop learning about anything that will improve my ability to make money. Anyone can improve and better their career.
