We wouldn't have "The Chronicles of Narnia" (or a Christian C.S. Lewis) without a late-night argument with J.R.R. Tolkien.
In 1931, C.S. Lewis was not a believer in Christ. He loved myths but thought they were "lies breathed through silver."
One night, Tolkien took Lewis for a walk along Addison’s Walk in Oxford. Tolkien argued that Christianity was the "True Myth", a myth that actually happened in history.
He explained that just because a story is beautiful doesn't mean it isn't real.
The conversation lasted until 3 a.m. A few days later, Lewis wrote to a friend: "I have just passed on from believing in God to definitely believing in Christ, in Christianity."
