Stories We Tell exists to find, shape and tell the stories that matter.
But the best stories don't always show up where we're looking. So we built a way for them to find us.
Introducing Put Us On, a new space on our website where you can:
→ Share what you're building or something you've discovered
→ Nominate someone whose story deserves to be told
→ Discover people, projects and movements you wouldn't normally encounter
Tech, business, Web3, AI, culture, creators. If it's happening across Africa and it matters, we want to hear about it.
Know someone we should meet? Building something we should know about?
Tell us. Website link in the comments 👇🏾
The second story of the Artizen Salon belongs to one of the voices who built the table.
In our first drop, 21 creators in Tigoni defined what it means to build things we owe to the world.
Now, we are pulling back the curtain with @m3av3, Founder of @Stories_WeTell and one of the three co-hosts who shaped the @Artizen Creator Salon.
For Meave, creation is an act of channeling your purpose, of doing something deeply meaningful beyond oneself. But to create with purpose, you must eventually speak.
That is where creation becomes storytelling.
The world is starved for stories that matter, but they don't just happen. They require a creator’s audacity to step up and tell them. A story can be simple but heavy: You have to be your own first storyteller. Before a community can rally behind you, before a future can be built, and before anyone else can help amplify your echo, you have to have the courage to speak your narrative into the empty air first.
This is how movements start. This is how we back what matters.
So, the question evolves: You know what creativity and creating means to you. Now, do you have the audacity to be its first storyteller?
We asked 21 people one question;
Technologists, artists, a chef, founders, organizers, musicians. One table in Tigoni. Question 1: what does creativity mean to you?
"To dare."
"Being flexible"
"Making something meaningful"
"Purpose, duty, obligation."
"Giving people a different perspective."
"Not being put in a box, making your own world."
"Speaking to the world in your own language."
"Life."
They didn't talk about making things for themselves. They talked about making things they owe to someone. A community, a place, a future that doesn't exist yet.
Every person at the Artizen table is building something worth backing. We co-curated the @Artizen Creators' Salon with @BuildaDao for exactly those people, and this is the first story.
So, tell us, What does creativity mean to you?

What happens when creators get enough time to truly talk to one another?
