My debut World Cup… it hurts to wait 4 years to compete at the highest level our sport has to offer. I want to say sorry to our fans it was not good enough when it mattered most and we let you down
Soccer in America will only become bigger the belief, the talent, and the passion is continually growing and I know the best days are in front of us, the future belongs to those who never stop believing, this moment will fuel us. We will be back
Why not us?
For the nation. For the flag.

To be clear, there were a TON of reasons the @USMNT lost today—primarily that Belgium was way better in all facets.
But to have the man who is supposed to be the greatest player in the history of our country simply no-show in the biggest tournament of his life is just awful.
sorry there’s no “but USA made it this far” upside here
USA could’ve went out like Cabo Verde who played the game of their lives, taking Messi & Argentina to the limit
instead USA went out like that video of 100 elementary school kids playing against the Japanese national team
Argentina’s most famous goal in the World Cup was with their star player’s hand and the country celebrates it as a cultural milestone. Stop with the hysterics.
Every country on earth would unhesitatingly also bribe FIFA to allow their top goalscorer to keep playing, don't let any of them make you feel bad about that.
the “i’m rooting against the USMNT as a political statement” gimmick is already kinda cringe but when you start rooting for belgium it just becomes a full on larp
