It didn't occur to me how many Kenyans kids are mistreated in their households until those Mosiria videos started popping up on my Tiktok. Tafadhali tupange uzazi so we don't become bitter parents ju wahhh💔💔💔
My fave Kenyanism word: Rada? Depending on the context it could mean WTF? It could mean “seriously?”. It could mean “what’s up?”. It could mean “the hell’s wrong with you?” And you can understand it by the tone someone uses when saying it, and I find it so beautiful.
actually your community IS coming to save you, people are going to show up for you, love is going to find you, strangers are going to be like angels, the world conspires for your highest good
Today I saw a girl. Yes, a GIRL. Sitting in a café alone with headphones on, laughing at something on her phone. For a second, I genuinely felt bad. Like where are her people?
Why is she so comfortable being alone?
Then I realized maybe she fought a hundred battles silently and finally learned how to enjoy her own company. And it didn't end there. Later I saw another girl buying flowers for herself. Just because she wanted to.
This generation is strange. People are slowly learning that happiness doesn't always need permission from others.
And honestly?
That's kind of beautiful.
