The premise of this war was false, and the evidence now sits in plain view. Lebanon, not Iran’s nuclear program, has been the strategic objective from the beginning. The Iran framing served as cover for a long-planned territorial campaign in the north.

Consider how the war began. On February 28, after months of joint operational deception, the opening salvo targeted Khamenei and Iran’s senior military leadership rather than the nuclear sites that were the stated justification. A serious campaign against the nuclear program would have prioritized Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. Instead, the underground enrichment facilities remained intact while Iran’s command structure was decapitated. A regime-decapitation strike followed by an inability to destroy the targets supposedly motivating the war is not a nuclear campaign. It is a regional realignment dressed in nuclear language.

The April 8 ceasefire confirms it. The agreement covered Iran-United States hostilities but specifically excluded Lebanon, despite Iran’s insistence that any cessation must apply on all fronts. Trump told Netanyahu, in language an Israeli official later confirmed to American press, that the United States supports Israel’s freedom of action on all fronts, including Lebanon. That single concession is the structural heart of the war.

What followed in Lebanon was execution, not improvisation. Hezbollah’s leadership has been systematically degraded. Southern Lebanon has been depopulated through evacuation orders affecting hundreds of thousands. The IDF advanced seven miles north this week alone. Yesterday, Israeli forces captured Beaufort Castle, the most strategic high ground in southern Lebanon, held by Israel from 1982 through 2000. Netanyahu has vowed to push deeper. The Zahrani River is the next operational line. The Litani is the longer objective. This is the 1982 invasion plan executed under cover of an Iran war, with the same territorial endpoint and the depopulation methodology refined in Gaza.

Iran has offered IAEA-supervised domestic downblending of its enriched uranium on four separate occasions. The United States has rejected each. If the objective were the material, that offer resolves the problem. The rejection is the confession.

The cost is staggering. On day one, 175 schoolgirls and their teachers were killed in a US-Israeli airstrike on a school in Minab, Iran, the largest single civilian casualty event of the conflict. Fifteen American service members are dead and 538 wounded for a war that bears no resemblance to its stated objectives. Between 6,285 and 8,817 are dead across 14 countries. 1.6 million Lebanese displaced. $29 billion spent. Gasoline above $4.50. The rules-based order has absorbed two precedents from which it will not easily recover: the assassination of a head of state, and the seizure of sovereign territory under cover of a manufactured war.

Israel acquired the portion of Lebanon that matters strategically. The arms industry secured $29 billion plus a replacement contract pipeline through decade’s end. AIPAC, the Adelson family, and the pro-Israel donor network received the war they have spent fifteen years and hundreds of millions purchasing from American politics, most recently demonstrated by the $22 million deployed in a single state’s primaries this March.

Iran was the pretext. Lebanon is the prize. Gaza was the template. Trump is the man holding a leash he has not yet realized is holding him.

Some Senate Republicans openly broke with President Donald Trump on Thursday over his request for funding tied to a new White House ballroom and the administration's "anti-weaponization fund."

Hours before they were scheduled to vote, Senate Republicans instead refused to advance a key bill for Trump because of concerns over the fund.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche made an unplanned trip to Capitol Hill to personally argue the case for that fund. It didn't work.

Amid sharp questions and concerns from Republicans, the president did not have the votes he needed, and the Senate instead left town.

Adam, this is written in good faith. I watch your show. You’re well researched, well spoken, and you have one of the sharpest podiums in independent media right now. That is exactly why the framing matters.

The AIPAC problem is not a Republican problem. It is a bipartisan capture problem. The same foreign-aligned money funding the $32 million takedown of Thomas Massie funded the takedowns of Nina Turner, Cori Bush, and Jamaal Bowman. Democratic primaries. Progressive candidates crushed by the same machine now coming for a Kentucky libertarian. The donor class does not care about the letter next to a name. It cares about compliance.

When you frame this fight as Republicans versus everyone else, the actual mechanism of capture disappears. Half of Americans dismiss your message as anti-Republican with an agenda and tune out before the receipts ever land. The leadership of both parties has made peace with the same money. You have the audience to do the harder work. Name every member of Congress, both parties, whose votes track AIPAC’s priorities. Show the donor overlap. Cover the Democratic primaries with the same energy as Massie. Treat voters as adults capable of holding their own side accountable.

Your message is good. Use it for the higher cause. Partisan framing builds a brand. Bipartisan truth-telling builds the coalition large enough to actually break the capture.

The platform you have is rare. Half the picture is not enough.

Look at the record. The tail is wagging the dog.

Netanyahu has wanted a US-backed war on Iran’s nuclear program for over fifteen years. He went to Congress in 2015 to torpedo the JCPOA over Obama’s objections. He spent the Biden years pushing for strikes. He started this war on February 28 with months of joint operational deception, called up reservists before the first bomb dropped, and assassinated Khamenei in the opening salvo. That’s not a man taking orders. That’s a man who finally got the war he’s wanted his entire political career.

Trump campaigned on no new wars. He’s the one who keeps calling off strikes, extending ceasefires, sending Witkoff and Vance to negotiate through Pakistan, taking Gulf allies’ phone calls to pause attacks. His approval on Iran is 31% and he knows it. He’s the one looking for an exit.

The pattern of the war supports it. Israel hit the Lavan Island refinery secretly without telling Washington. Israel keeps bombing Lebanon during the ceasefire. Israel went to highest alert this week independent of US posture. When Trump called off Tuesday’s strike, Netanyahu held an emergency security meeting, not a celebration. The IDF doesn’t go to highest alert when its boss just told it to stand down.

And the deeper record: AIPAC just spent $22M in Illinois primaries, the Adelson money flows to whichever American politician serves the agenda, and the entire US foreign policy apparatus has been bent around Israeli security priorities for decades regardless of which party holds the White House. Talarico won a Texas Senate primary partly by naming this dynamic out loud.

So when Trump says “Netanyahu will do whatever I want,” read it as the opposite. It’s the tell of a man who knows he’s been maneuvered into a war he didn’t want, can’t easily exit, and is now performing dominance to a domestic audience because actual dominance isn’t available to him. The dog that has to announce it’s holding the leash is usually the one being walked.

Thomas Massie lost his primary tonight. The race cost over $32 million, the most expensive House primary in American history, and the decisive money came from AIPAC, the Republican Jewish Coalition, and pro-Israel megadonors Miriam Adelson, Paul Singer, and John Paulson.

This is the third time in two years. Jamaal Bowman in 2024. Cori Bush in 2024. Thomas Massie in 2026. The two previous records for most expensive House primary in US history, both AIPAC removals of incumbents deemed too critical of Israel. The pattern is no longer deniable: cross the Israel lobby, get drowned in foreign-aligned cash, lose your seat.

A foreign government’s lobbying apparatus is openly deciding which Americans get to represent Americans in Congress. AIPAC’s own super PAC called Massie “the most anti-Israel Republican in the House” and treated his defeat as their win. Massie had introduced legislation requiring AIPAC to register as a foreign agent. That is what put him in the crosshairs.

Here is the part that matters. The vote still belongs to us. AIPAC cannot cast a single ballot. Miriam Adelson cannot mark a single name. Paul Singer cannot enter a single voting booth. Every single vote that defeated Massie was cast by an American citizen in Kentucky.

What AIPAC bought was $32 million worth of persuasion. Television ads. Direct mail. Digital targeting. A flood of messaging designed to tell Kentuckians what to think about a man most of them had reelected for eight terms. And it worked, because we let it work. We let glossy ads and Trump tweets and pro-Israel talking points decide our votes for us, instead of asking who Massie was, what he stood for, and who was paying to remove him and why.

The defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, personally traveled to Kentucky to campaign against Massie, breaking decades of norms against active-duty military leadership engaging in partisan politics. For AIPAC’s candidate. And we let that slide too.

The vote is still ours. Every two years, every American walks into a booth and decides. AIPAC’s billions cannot override that. But persuasion is only as strong as our willingness to be persuaded. The day we start asking who is paying for the ad before we believe the ad, the day we research the donor list before we trust the message, the day we treat $32 million in outside money as a warning sign rather than a recommendation, AIPAC’s power evaporates.

Until then, we are not being silenced. We are agreeing.

Senator, in what way is Israel our ally? Allies don’t get $3.8B/year minimum, advanced weapons on demand, automatic UN vetoes, and diplomatic cover for ICC warrants while giving back what, exactly?

Operation Epic Fury was fought on Israel’s strategic priorities. American sailors are dead and stranded in Hormuz. US bases in Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE took missile hits in the retaliation. The Strait is closed, US Navy is blockading Iran, and American consumers are paying for it at the pump. That bill is ours, not Israel’s.

The Pakistan-mediated ceasefire keeps collapsing because Israel refuses to accept Lebanon is included and keeps striking Hezbollah. The US negotiated the deal. Israel is the one tanking it. That is not how an ally behaves toward its patron.

Fair point raised in the replies, and one worth answering directly.

This post was not meant to sugarcoat Trump. Trump is culpable. He started this war. He is the one fast-tracking $8 billion in arms to the region without Congressional review. He is the one calling Americans treasonous for telling the truth about it. The pattern of narrative control, the constitutional end-runs, the abandonment of allies, the personal alignment with Netanyahu, all of it sits squarely on him.

But here is the harder truth. Even after Trump is gone, whether through the end of his term, impeachment, or any other path Congress chooses, the problem will still be there.

The capture of American foreign policy by the pro-Israel lobby did not begin in 2025. It did not begin with this administration. The architecture has been built since 1967, through every president of both parties, through Republican and Democratic Congresses, through AIPAC’s steady accumulation of influence over campaign finance, committee assignments, and primary outcomes.

On the Republican side, Speaker Mike Johnson took a $95,000 check the same year he sponsored $14 billion in military aid to Israel. Sen. Lindsey Graham, Sen. Tom Cotton, and the entire GOP Senate leadership take the money. The Biden administration spent four years arming the operation in Gaza. Chuck Schumer is one of AIPAC’s most reliable allies in the Senate. Shontel Brown, Joyce Beatty, Greg Landsman, Hillary Clinton, and Jim Clyburn are all part of the same architecture on the Democratic side. Every Ohio incumbent on the November ballot, Democrat and Republican, takes AIPAC money.

This is not a party problem. This is both parties.

When Trump leaves office, the next president, Republican or Democrat, inherits the same lobby, the same compromised Congress, the same network of bundlers, the same captured primary process. The names change. The checks keep clearing.

Trump is the acute crisis. The capture is the chronic disease. Both are real. Both must be named.
