Trying to be an artist, environmentalist, motorcyclist and too many other things! Invested 30yrs working with Nature to manage flood risk around our coasts.
Thanks to all the generous contributions received so far we have raised over 70% of our target to purchase materials to rebuild the roundhouse! As soon as schools restart and restrictions are sufficiently lifted we can resume workshops and involve the children in our restoration.
Please help fund the rebuild of a 'Hands on Heritage' charity roundhouse, Tunstall forest, Suffolk. 'HoH' offers schools practical workshops to support curriculum studies. As a trustee I've launched a Just Giving page. https://t.co/EdSMih1sIj
Sadly on 17th April someone burnt down the replica Neolithic roundhouse at the charity Hands on Heritage site in Tunstall forest, Suffolk. Run by volunteers HoH provides practical days in the forest for Suffolk school children to support their national curriculum history studies.
@DefraGovUK@theresecoffey @RSPB_S_Suffolk @EnvAgency@EnvAgencyAnglia @RSPBintheEast @ViridorCredits Whilst the surrounding landowners hold the line on all the river walls causing increased coastal squeeze and loss of saltmarsh!
@BBCNews Unfortunately some large coastal landowners in Suffolk are ignoring coastal change reality and plan to reinforce their private walls with public and community money, and with the blessing of the Environment Agency! See AOEP plan.
@DefraGovUK@EnvAgency The recommendations need to be implemented immediately, it is already too late for some coastal environments and habitats, let's not leave it too late to help coastal communities adapt!
@EnvAgency@theCCCuk But traditional defences don't last and need constant investment, coastal adaptation is the only sustainable solution for people and the environment, and start now!
@JamesBevanEA @EnvAgency Unfortunately in the Alde/Ore Estuary, Suffolk, a Partnership of major landowners is promoting a 27 mile, 10 year hold the line programme of tidal wall improvements, ingnoring coastal squeeze, ignoring an adaptive approach and supported by the EA! Why no greener approach here?
Calling the Small Earth Conference, Snape 2018: Help needed to challenge Alde/Ore Estuary Partnership/landowner plans for unsustainable tidal river walls and agriculture in AONB. Ignoring climate change, coastal squeeze, local ecosystems. We are local informed voices for nature!
