There are apparently approximately 7000 @Starlink packages at DHL in Jamaica already cleared and waiting to be shipped to customers. Most won’t reach their final destination until a week or more after arriving in the island.
Last night I went to a remote district in St. E. where I saw the WORST destruction I've seen so far. In the little square the bars had generators running, sound boxes playing loud music. Half the community seemed to be out there mingling, having a one drink, a one spliff. One...
In Jamaica, Sunday evenings are for relaxation and community.
Recently, we visited the communities of Rock and Cooper’s Pen to distribute care packages. Thanks to the generous support of Champion Wholesale and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, residents received much-needed assistance to make post–Hurricane Melissa recovery a little easier.
Despite the uplift in morale, reminders of the Category 5 hurricane remain — debris and piles of waste still line sections of our roadways. This is our reality.
Special thanks to Ascend Innovation for ensuring these packages reached each community safely.
Inch by inch, we’re moving through the constituency — helping residents restore a sense of normalcy, one community at a time.

Some years ago, a former boss went to Venezuela for a work trip. He learned that the people living in the shanty towns in Caracas and other towns are not broke or poor, they live like that because they pay no taxes. Of course there are poor people in many parts of Jamaica, but don’t think for one minute that it’s all of them.

The Chinese business community in western Jamaica has mobilised more than $100 million in hurricane relief supplies for communities devastated by Hurricane Melissa, with an immediate emergency response led by LCH Developments just hours after the Category 5 storm devastated sections of the country.
LCH Developments’ construction partner, Brothers Concepts & Solutions Limited, was first on the ground, deploying bulldozers and heavy machinery to clear blocked roads and reopen critical access routes for emergency food and water deliveries.
