Strand Therapeutics is gearing up for Fall! To celebrate the Fall equinox, Strands got creative and painted mini pumpkins!🍂🍁

[Strand Therapeutics @StrandTx]

Last month, we welcomed about 20 PhD students and postdocs from the @thebiotechclub to our Boston office for an afternoon of touring our space and hearing from our team – including a talk and Q&A with co-founder, President, and Head of R&D @tasuku_kitada, alongside scientists from our program management and translational medicine groups.

This week, Tasuku’s conversation with Harvard Biotech Club’s The Pulse podcast is live and he talks through Strand's programmable mRNA platform, his path from biotech investing back into R&D, and what could be next for oncology and autoimmune disease.

@BostonGlobe's inaugural ‘Next in Medicine’ list recognizes the companies driving the next wave of patient care, and we're proud to be among them.

We strive to keep human impact at the center of our work. It reminds us why we push ourselves, our colleagues, and the bounds of programmable mRNA therapeutics forward.

@elonmusk is right about the acceleration implication, but mRNA isn’t software.

It’s chips.

That distinction matters.

The mRNA molecule is the programmable hardware layer: a biological device that carries instructions into a cell and gets translated by the cell’s machinery.

Excited to share that Strand Therapeutics has once again been nominated in the Best Startup category for the 2026 Prix Galien USA Awards by @GalienFdn recognizing innovation advancing global health.

Congratulations to our fellow nominees, and we look forward to celebrating the advancement of science together this fall.

Last week, our co-founder and CEO @DrSynbio joined Endpoints News and Roivant Sciences CEO @gline for a live debate on China's impact on biotech.

Jake made the case that while protectionism is an important consideration, we have to stay focused on acceleration. He pointed to Australia's clinical trial capacity running at four times the U.S. rate despite having a tenth of the population.

This isn’t just a sign of how much room there is to move faster here. The gap is felt by patients, too. 86% of non-metro U.S. hospitals don't run clinical trials, meaning many patients have to leave home to access experimental treatments.

The US has spent the last decade spending more and more money to develop less innovative medicines, says Jake Becraft, Strand Therapeutics CEO. Any response to China’s increasing biotech edge has to include reforms that address that root issue, he said during Endpoints’ China event. Last month, our Spring Co-ops celebrated the end of their cycle by presenting their hard work to our team! Strand is incredibly proud to have been a part of their journeys, and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors!

@endpts is bringing its new China biotech debate series to Boston, and our co-founder and CEO @DrSynbio is joining the conversation.

📢 Has China changed how we build companies?
📅 Thursday, August 6
🕐 5:00-7:40 pm ET
📍 Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT

Jake joins @gline, CEO of Roivant Sciences, for a live discussion moderated by @ArmstrongDrew. They'll dig into whether science is still a differentiator when drugs get copied and raced into trials, and what actually counts as a defensible moat for bringing a medicine to patients.

Strand CEO and co-founder @DrSynbio spoke about why quality beats speed in the China biotech debate and the importance of building fundamentally revolutionary medicines that are genuinely hard to replicate.

Congratulations to our co-founder and CEO, @DrSynbio, on being named an @EY_US Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2026 New England Award winner!

This recognition reflects a mission that every person at Strand shows up for every day: programming mRNA to sense, decide, and act inside the body, so that therapies reach more patients, treat more diseases, and do so more scalably than ever before.

That mission is what keeps us moving forward.

[Strand Therapeutics @StrandTx]

Strand was founded at MIT, so welcoming students from MIT's BioCEL and Ron Weiss's lab this past May felt a little like a homecoming. The group toured our facility, connected with the team, and got a firsthand look at programmable mRNA medicine in action. The next wave of scientists in this space is a promising one.

[Strand Therapeutics @StrandTx]

Building a great place to work is a team effort. We're honored to have been named the #12 best medium-sized company to work for by the @BosBizJournal, and grateful to the people behind the science and the culture.

This is the standard our co-founder and CEO, @DrSynbio, holds Strand to – and it’s the lens through which our team thinks about everything from how we design drugs to how we push for the regulatory reform that gets treatments to patients faster.

Jake joined @tferriss to talk through the science, the clinical results, and what it will actually take to make that goal a reality.

[Tim Ferriss @tferriss]

“Our goal at Strand, and our challenge, is building drugs today that impact patients’ lives. We’re not a research institute. Our goal is not to do really cool research on mice and join the ranks of people who have cured mice of cancer. There’s millions of them. There could be a Nobel Prize every five minutes for someone who’s cured a mouse of cancer. Our goal is to cure human beings of human-being cancer. Our goal is to cure human beings of human-being diseases, and do so in a safe, effective, scalable way that impacts a person’s life as little as possible. And that is what we’re building.”

What if off-target effects weren’t a delivery problem but a programming problem?

Our programmable mRNA platform uses molecular sensors to make sure only tumor cells can “read” the message and produce the protein that triggers their destruction. Healthy cells ignore the mRNA altogether.

NEW podcast episode is up!

"Tim’s Founder Kitchen — From Brainstorm to The President’s Office in Two Months (Featuring Jake Becraft, Strand Therapeutics)"

This episode is an experiment!

I'm trying out a new format: half interview, half live jam session. I've started a new series, working title "Tim's Founder Kitchen," built around actual brainstorming sessions with founders willing to share the audio.

This first instalment is with Jake Becraft of Strand Therapeutics. @DrSynbio is the CEO and co-founder of @StrandTx, a clinical-stage biotechnology company with a pipeline of breakthrough mRNA therapeutics for cancers and autoimmune diseases.

Let me know by replying here what you think of this experiment and how I can make the series better.

Please enjoy!
