📝Notice Regarding Spotify Streaming Activity
We’ve recently observed unusual fluctuations in the streaming patterns for several older Stray Kids songs on Spotify, particularly tracks from the Mixtape era. The data suggests that someone may be testing different streaming methods using these songs.
We understand and appreciate the intention behind this type of testing. Many STAYs are trying to better understand how Spotify’s filtering system works so the fandom can stream more effectively in the future. Efforts like this often come from a genuine desire to help Stray Kids grow, and that dedication is something we truly respect.
However, we want to offer an important word of caution to anyone conducting these tests. When Spotify’s system detects patterns that trigger its filtering algorithm, it can result in large-scale stream removals or reversals. This type of activity can distort the public counter and may negatively affect the perceived stability of a track’s performance. Large spikes followed by significant deletions also make it much harder to interpret the data accurately, which defeats the purpose of testing in the first place.
We also want to highlight another important factor: large-scale testing conducted without notifying other fanbases can lead to incomplete or misleading results. If other bases are unaware that a test is happening, they may continue normal streaming activity on the same songs. When organic streaming and controlled testing overlap, it becomes extremely difficult to isolate which streams came from the test and which came from normal listeners. This mixing of data can make the results unreliable and prevent anyone from drawing clear conclusions about how Spotify’s filtering system is actually responding.
For those who are experimenting with streaming methods, please keep in mind that aggressive or highly repetitive patterns can carry risks, and coordination is important when trying to study platform behavior. If tests are conducted, they should be done thoughtfully and with clear communication so that the data collected is meaningful and does not unintentionally harm the songs being used.
We are sharing this simply as an observation and a reminder. The goal of every STAY is the same—to support Stray Kids in the most effective and sustainable way possible. Careful coordination and responsible streaming practices will always have the greatest long-term impact.
If you would like to learn more about Spotify and explore the extensive research our team has conducted on how the platform operates over the years, we encourage you to visit our dedicated Spotify resource page on our website.
