For two years running, a film about Gaza has set the reported record for the longest ovation at Venice.

Foreign journalists remain barred from independently entering Gaza. Palestinian journalists continue to report from inside, while foreign media access is largely limited to Israeli military-organised visits.

NAZA draws on nearly three years of investigation, parts of it published as journalism before the premiere. The IDF disputes the account, saying the anonymity of the film's sources means their roles and involvement cannot be independently verified.

Restricted access does not end the flow of information. It changes how that information travels.

Hamas accepted a disarmament roadmap on 30 July: weapons decommissioned in stages, with Israeli withdrawal linked to verified progress. A US official said Israel's approval was not needed, as it had already accepted Trump's broader plan.

Four days later, after Mladenov met Netanyahu, the Board said Israeli forces would not withdraw beyond the Yellow Line until decommissioning was complete. The Washington Institute called it a shift towards Israel's preferred sequencing.

Netanyahu rejected the roadmap anyway on 9 August.
