Yesterday we had a fantastic funeral mass for #TheLegendSilvanoBorruso ; a fitting send off for a man who touched the lives of many, and who lived a simple ethical life with a straightforward purpose of sanctity through good work & selflessness.

Venue: Strath School (Lavington) bwn the library & secondary block.
Please note that entry to the venue will be through the CANTEEN GATE.
Time:10am
CONFESSIONS will be heard from 9:30am.
The wake is being held in the School Chapel today Fri 7th, 4-8pm.
There's a condolence book open near the trophy cabinet near the bookshop.
For the condolence book, wake & funeral Mass, the School kindly requests we observe the standard COVID protocols (mask, sanitising, etc).
During his time as a teacher, & in a special way after retiring, Mr. Borruso sustained himself working as a translator. His legendary mastery of up to 7 languages endeared him to many a publisher.

-Silvano’s body leaves funeral home.
-Wake in Strath School 4-8pm.
Sat, 8th Jan
-Funeral Mass in Strath School from 10am.
-Then burial in Lang’ata Cemetery.
There will be an online link made available for events of 8th.

Borruso was among the first members of Opus Dei that St. Josemaria sent to begin the Work in Kenya. He arrived in Sep '60 & passed away on Sat 1st Jan '22. Here is an interview of his from 2018.

Shout out to the folks that helped set up the 1st interracial college @StrathU in Kenya,helped, mentored, taught so many of Kenya’s corporate & public leaders!
We would like to invite all alumni, parents & friends to pray for the eternal repose of Fr. Cormac Burke who passed away peacefully last night (Mon 22nd Nov).
Fr. Cormac, acclaimed jurist, canon lawyer & author, worked as a chaplain in the school for many years.
May he RIP.
