There is a correlation between CPS taking children from their parents and the historical practice of slave masters in the antebellum South, taking children and selling them off into slavery. CPS usually place the child in the foster care system, oftentimes the child is then placed with an adoption agency, who sells the child to the highest bidder. This practice and the culture it fostered can be seen today in the way CPS operates.
